Job Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Salary Range: $140,000 - $155,000 per year.
  • Manage the Manufacturing Engineering activities, including but not limited to:
    • lead engineering launch teams through process design, procurement, installation and commissioning of new equipment in compliance with legislation
    • lead internal and external process change management process and activities
    • lead manufacturing process development with documentation management
    • lead new technology development and integration
    • supporting operational performance with engineering expertise and analysis
  • Builds an effective and empowered team that has the skills and motivation to generate quality output while meeting departmental and divisional goals
  • Holds Team Members accountable to meet performance expectations and to comply with all operational procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality, Safety and Environmental Programs (ie. TS16949, ISO14001) and takes appropriate corrective action
  • Achieves company budgets and targets to maximize profitability
  • Develops and implements action plans for EOS (Employee Opinion Survey)
  • Actively participates as a dynamic and progressive member of the leadership team to strengthen Meadowvale’s ability to perform and grow to meet its maximum group potential
  • Meets the customers delivery requirements without a shutdown throughout prototype and production requirements
  • Meets all APQP requirements throughout divisional and program launches
  • Conducts department meetings
  • Provides formal and informal performance feedback to Team Members
  • Plan and direct the efficient utilization of all equipment and manpower
  • Investigate and participate in the review of new potential integrators capabilities and be an active part of the decision process for integrator price negotiation and selection
  • Promotes and leads continuous improvements and cost reduction opportunities
  • Implements and maintains all department plans for hiring and training throughout all plant and program launches.
  • Develops Team Members through coaching and mentoring
  • Develops, maintains and enhances the elements of SPQP in support of our unique Meadowvale culture
  • Meets the Divisions overall Key Performance Indicators, as set out in the Divisions plan as approved by the Corporation and Magna.
  • Complies with duties and responsibilities as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and ensures appropriate corrective action is taken when violations occur
  • Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (i.e. TS16949, ISO14001)
  • Understands, promotes and lives by Magna’s philosophies and Employee Charter
  • Adheres to Meadowvale’s core values, integrity, respect, trust, honesty, fairness and loyalty
  • Follows Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
  • Performs all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Meadowvale’s Environmental Policy
  • Performs other duties as required

LEADER HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Meadowvale.
  • Performs all Supervisory duties in a safe manner in accordance with Section 27 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments Duties of Supervisor
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner in accordance with Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulation 851 for Industrial Establishments Duties of Workers

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum eight (8) to ten (10) years of leadership experience, in an automotive or manufacturing environment, is an asset
  • Engineering Degree/Diploma or equivalent combination of education and applicable work-related experience
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a professional manner
  • Ability to be flexible in hours of work to meet internal/external customer requirements including overtime
  • Ability to uphold confidentiality
  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Analytically-minded with solid organizational and communication skills able to meet prescribed deadlines, sometimes under pressure.
  • Provides direction, motivation and sets an example through open communication and modeling best practices providing appropriate feedback, support and resources to improve effectiveness of individuals and teams.
  • Understands the key processes and systems within the organization related to their work flow while consistently seeking ways to improve outcomes and enhance results.
  • Possesses the knowledge and leadership skills to ensure the Engineering department is able to adapt and innovate to meet changing customer demands.
  • Able to work without supervision
  • Works outside of regular administration hours when necessary to meet deadlines
