Engineering Manager - JLL

What this job involves: The primary role of the Engineering Manager is to effectively deliver the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the plant within a multi-skilled engineering team in accordance with best practices and JLL Standards. The manager will directly oversee five (5) Supervisors and one (1) Technical Estimator, support the overall account which is 24/7. The primary role of the Engineering Manager is to effectively deliver the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the plant within a multi-skilled team in accordance with best practices and JLL Standards. Oversight of (2) Sub vendors including Waste Management and PIT's.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Provides daily leadership to supervisors, conducting monthly one-to-ones, annual performance reviews, and setting clear objectives for team development.
  • Ensure team members complete mandatory MyDevelopment online training monthly and conduct regular tool box talks with attendance tracking
  • Driving supervisors excellence through regular review, coaching, and participation in provided training.
  • Managing all planned maintenance tasks within contract scope, you will coordinate reactive calls and breakdowns while reporting monthly SLAs to support the FM team with comprehensive reports and weekly SLA calls.
  • Manage your team of Technicians to support agreed SLAs and KPIs, ensuring timely completion of eCAP or other client system approval processes.
  • Maintaining 100% statutory compliance through accurate log book management, timely receipt of statutory compliance reports with Facility Manager support, and acting as Deputy Responsible for Site Operations.
  • Support and implement JLL health and safety policies, continuously updating risk assessments and method statements while maintaining up-to-date records and communicating these to your team.
  • Support the management and control of contractors onsite, reviewing risk assessments and method statements, supporting permit-to-work issuance, and ensuring site inductions for both engineering staff and third-party vendors
  • Take on potential facilities projects from concept through completion, including HVAC upgrades, electrical system improvements, and building envelope repairs. They develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules while ensuring compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and sustainability standards.
  • Supporting the Site Director with monthly billing trackers, you will help control budget costs for M+E invoicing, identify and flag all billable activity, and conduct financial reviews of spending across your area, taking action on exceptions. You will manage security and engineering on-call rotation schedules, oversee engineer overtime and call-out payments, and provide pricing for M+E works on minor projects and maintenance as applicable.


Required Qualifications:
  • Experience managing multiple salaried or union employees over 400,000+ sq. foot campus over utilities (chiller, boiler, etc.) and facilities (MEP, HVAC)
  • Familiarity with Planned Preventative and Reactive maintenance regime.
  • NEBOSH/IOSH or other recognized H+S training is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Bachelor of Science degree is preferred; however, in lieu of formal degree qualifications, 10+ years of experience in Utilities and/or Facilities is required.
  • Demonstrating the ability to use your own initiative, you will bring 3+ years of experience working in a similar role, ideally within a critical facility managing teams of multi-skilled engineers and third-party contractors.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Waste Management an in union environments

Location: Bradley, IL (on-site) with up to 10% travel

Estimated compensation for this position:

100,000.00 - 120,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
