Summary -
The Engineering Manager, HyService is responsible for leading the regional engineering organization and ensuring the delivery of technically sound, competitive, and customer-focused solutions across all service offerings. The role drives engineering excellence from opportunity development through execution support, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership & Organization
• Lead and develop the HyService Engineering organization
• Provide functional leadership to engineers within the team
• Build a high-performing, collaborative engineering organization aligned with regional and global standards
Technical Scope & Solution Development
• Define technical scopes, objectives, and deliverables aligned with customer requirements and business goals.
• Ensure engineering solutions meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.
• Support development of customer-focused and technically optimized service solutions.
Project & Offer Support (OTO / OTC)
• Estimate, plan, and execute engineering scopes for both Offer-to-Order (OTO) and Order-to-Cash (OTC) phases.
• Ensure efficient and standardized engineering processes during the offering phase.
• Support Service Managers and Tendering teams with technically sound and competitive proposals.
Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
• Drive improvements in engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Promote best practices and lessons learned, including feedback from NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports).
• Ensure high-quality, complete, and standard-compliant technical documentation.
Cross-functional Collaboration
• Coordinate closely with Field Services, Project Management, Sales, Sourcing, and Service teams to ensure seamless execution.
• Build and maintain a strong internal network within the region.
• Support alignment with corporate engineering standards and regional service strategies.
Leadership Scope
• Regional HyService Engineering teams (multi-disciplinary - Turbine, Generator, Automation, BOP)
• Functional leadership across engineering interfaces
Candidate Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (or comparable); hydropower service/modernization exposure is a strong asset.
• 8-12 years of relevant experience in application/service engineering within an OEM or project-driven environment, including several years in a leadership role.
• Strong people leadership: build, coach, and steer multi-disciplinary teams (incl. functional leadership across engineering interfaces) with clear accountability and performance culture.
• Proven ability to translate customer needs into technically sound, competitive solutions across service offerings, supporting both OTO and OTC with accurate scope, effort, and risk assessment.
• Solid engineering governance skills: compliance with safety/regulatory requirements and contractual obligations, high-quality technical documentation, and structured lessons learned/NCR feedback loops.
• Excellent cross-functional and customer-facing communication (Tendering, PM, Field Services, Sales), including prioritization and resource planning; business-fluent English, strong MS Office; CAD/engineering tools and SAP exposure are a plus; travel as required.
