Full Job Description
The Role

ONYX Insight is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the installation of electronic hardware devices across our customers' portfolio of wind turbines in the North American market.

This role is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end deployment project lifecycle, ensuring project scope is clearly defined, and field installation programs are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with Sales, Wind Turbine Health Monitoring, Subcontractor, Vendor, and Safety & Customer teams, you will provide technical leadership and operational oversight, ensuring customer requirements are met, and field installation activities are executed effectively.

This is a hands-on front-line leadership role requiring field installation experience, sound engineering judgment, excellent project management skills, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders while maintaining a focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Management of 3-5 field-facing engineers
  • Manages and provides day-to-day leadership to a team of 3-5 field-facing engineers, including workload distribution, performance management, and career development.
  • Serves as the primary point of escalation for field engineering issues, coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve technical and customer-facing challenges.
  • Conducts regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and coaching sessions to support team development and ensure alignment with departmental goals.

Project Delivery & Operational Leadership
  • Lead deployment projects from handover through completion, ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, quality, and budget expectations.
  • Oversee project planning, documentation, QA/QC activities, performance tracking, and reporting.
  • Manage project risks, resources, and priorities to support successful execution.

Commercial & Pre-Sales Support
  • Provide engineering review of deployment scope, estimates, and project costs.
  • Partner with Sales during customer engagements, technical discussions, and industry events.
  • Support the development of deployment-related tools, templates, and documentation.

Vendor, Contractor & Supply Chain Management
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Monitor vendor performance, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure external partners support efficient and reliable project delivery.

Health, Safety & Field Operations
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all deployment activities.
  • Manage PPE programs, review field risk assessments, and support compliance requirements.
  • Support the training and onboarding of field personnel.

Customer Success & Technical Support
  • Serve as a technical resource for ONYX sensing hardware and inspection technologies.
  • Support customer meetings, issue resolution, and deployment-related technical inquiries.
  • Work across teams to address customer feedback and drive continuous improvement.

Required Experience
  • Demonstrable experience delivering remote device installation programs at scale in complex environments
  • Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, and field service providers.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC processes and deployment quality management
  • Previous experience in a people management, supervisory, or team leadership capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong project management, stakeholder management, and communication skills.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience working at wind farm sites, including up-tower access within nacelles and hubs.
  • Experience with condition monitoring, turbine reliability, or wind turbine sensing technologies.
  • Working knowledge of wind turbine inspection and monitoring practices.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb wind turbine towers and work at height while using appropriate PPE and fall protection equipment.
  • Ability to perform site visits in varying weather and field conditions.
  • Approximately 25% domestic travel, with occasional international travel as business needs require.

Salary range: $110,000-$155,000

Compensation is based on market pay structures and individual factors including location, experience, and internal equity. Hiring at or near the top of the range is not typical, and compensation is determined on a case-by-case basis.
