Full Job Description
Primary Purpose:

This position will directly manage a team of mechanical engineers and manufacturing engineering resources supporting New Product Development (NPD) programs, ongoing sustaining efforts, and technical support for assigned products. The engineering manager provides direction, mentors staff and drives best practices while ensuring deadlines are met and a high level of quality is achieved while supporting FNA's fast-to-market and entrepreneurial business approach.

Essential Duties:
  • Manage the engineering resources to support the industrial and consumer manufacturing facilities, along with leading continuous improvement activities.
  • Mentor staff on best engineering and design practices to drive user experience, enhanced functionality, reliability, serviceability and manufacturability.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing staff including direct interaction on the shop floor, ongoing sustaining efforts and maintenance of drawings.
  • Provide engineering support to product management and sales as required to interpret customer requirements and requests, review product ratings and ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Work closely with product management, manufacturing, procurement and quality to advance their assignments with speed and precision.
  • Conduct and/or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, codes, and other artifacts.
  • Contribute to design standards and support design reuse.
  • Support existing product engineering needs through design and or drawing changes to improve manufacturability, cost reduction and/or improve performance.


Qualifications:
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment of constant change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with others to create, implement and sustain processes and best practices.
  • Understanding of product development cycle, from concept to market.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks 3D modeling, 2D drafting, PDM and ERP systems.
  • Hands on experience with small engines, metal fabrication, and plastics is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills balanced with creativity and innovation.
  • Knowledge in dimensioning and tolerance analysis.
  • Self-directed individual who works well within a team environment.


Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years managing engineering resources in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in the Outdoor Power Equipment or Power Tools industry is highly preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working in a multi-channel retail business/industry is preferred.
