Full Job Description
PURPOSE/FUNCTION/SUMMARY (TRAINING NEEDS)

The Engineering Manager is the top engineering leader for the organization and reports to the General Manager. Has oversight for the Engineering functions within the organization. In partnership with manufacturing, sales and quality assurance ensures conformance to product drawings and development. Develops the engineering road map, vision and direction which ensures short and long-term business goals and objectives are met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Directs R & D, new product development / introduction and sustaining engineering functions.
  • Responsible for providing accurate and timely analysis of actuals and forecast for ROI purposes and Capex Reporting
  • Provides engineering expertise in areas of prints, specifications, tooling, also process product maintenance, raw materials and purchased products
  • Partners with Corporate Technology Center on engineering and technology projects.
  • Manages the execution of reverse engineered drawings according to customer specifications.
  • Works in conjunction with manufacturing and quality assurance to manage the implementation of corrective action, engineering changes, and improvements in manufacturing processes.
  • Serves as a strategic member of the Sr. Staff management team while providing technical support to Vietnam location.
  • Provides technical support for the development of sales quotations and customer part identification.
  • Develops and manages procedures and methods to ensure conformance to quality standards.
  • Provide direction and oversight to direct reports.
    • Selects, trains, mentors and coaches staff
    • Conducts periodic performance assessments and addresses performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Travels as necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or other related degree.

Experience/Skills/Abilities:
  • Minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering design work in a manufacturing environment. (Strongly prefer experience in a machining environment with exposure to heat treat, lathe and/or milling operations)
  • Understanding of metallurgy and materials engineering is highly desired.
  • Prior leadership experience.
  • Possess strong analytical skills, including failure analysis.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering is required
  • Prior experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to coordinate projects that have significant impact on the organization and require cooperation by several departments for completion.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to explain technical information in a non-technical manner
  • Strong leadership competencies including Employee Development, Business Acumen, Decision Making, Managerial Courage, and Drive for Results.
  • Excellent computer skills (EX: Solidworks, MS Office/Outlook, Excel, and ERP systems)
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally as required to customer, vendor or other company locations.
