Full Job Description
The Problem

As Flock expands our suite of public safety technology, ensuring hardware and peripheral reliability across our entire product suite is critical to field operations. Architecting scalable hardware validation frameworks and establishing a dedicated testing lab requires technical leadership across low-level Linux, embedded electronics, and cloud interfaces. You will lead our validation software team, bridge cross-functional engineering workflows, and build out our physical validation infrastructure.

What You'll Own
  • Lead the software architecture, design, and execution of automated hardware validation frameworks across our hardware products and peripherals.
  • Build, resource, and manage the physical hardware validation lab infrastructure at our Atlanta facilities.
  • Develop shared test libraries and automation tools using Python, C, and low-level Linux OS configurations.
  • Direct relational test data store architecture to enable deep diagnostic analytics across embedded devices and cloud platforms.
  • Lead cross-functional engineering initiatives with hardware, low-level OS, and cloud teams throughout full product development lifecycles.

What This Role is Not
  • This isn't a hands-off administrative management role, you will stay technically engaged with schematics, low-level C code, and lab hardware instrumentation.
  • This is not a pure software application role, you will directly manage the physical hardware validation lab and bridge low-level electronics with cloud backends.
  • This isn't a remote position, you will be on-site at our Atlanta area facilities to lead physical lab operations and engage directly with prototype hardware.

What You Bring
  • Demonstrated engineering leadership experience guiding cross-functional hardware and software teams through complex product lifecycles.
  • Low-level C programming proficiency for peripheral testing alongside high-level scripting experience in Python or Bash for test automation libraries.
  • Hands-on familiarity with embedded Linux configurations, build environments, and kernel digital communication protocols like SPI, I2C, and UART.
  • Practical knowledge of electronic schematics, circuit verification, and diagnostic lab equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Ability to design relational test databases using tools like PostgreSQL or MySQL for system performance analysis.
  • A degree in electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent practical experience, is required.
  • Experience with Linux driver development or battery power management validation is a plus.
Compensation

In this role, you'll receive a starting salary between $170,000 and $220,000 as well as Flock Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in depth with you during our first chat.

Some problems get solved faster in the same room, so we prioritize candidates in Atlanta and Boston. Hub-based roles mean real in-person time with your coworkers. Remote roles exist, and when a posting is open to remote work, it says so.
