Full Job Description

As a Manager of Developer Tooling, you will be tasked with leading the team responsible for designing, building, and operating our CI/CD pipelines. This team sits within the Developer Experience organization and is at the center of how every engineer ships code. You will set the technical direction for our pipeline platform and partner with Infrastructure Services and product engineering teams to deliver a fast, reliable, and self-service path to production.

What Will You Do?

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Lead, grow, and develop a team of engineers building and operating CI/CD pipelines and pipeline tooling.
  • Own the architecture, roadmap, and reliability of our CI/CD pipelines from source to production.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into the developer workflow including AI code review on pull requests, AI generated tests, intelligent test selection and flake detection, AI assisted failure triage, and engineering intelligence dashboards that surface bottlenecks and impact.
  • Partner with the broader DevEx organization to roll out, support, and measure adoption of AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) across product engineering teams.
  • Build paved road templates, reusable libraries, and golden paths that make doing the right thing the easiest thing for product teams.
  • Drive measurable improvements in pipeline reliability, build and test duration, and developer wait times.
  • Partner with security to build supply chain controls, policy enforcement, and AI specific guardrails into the pipeline.
  • Work closely with the Infrastructure Services team that owns CI/CD orchestration, GitOps continuous delivery, artifact management, and related platforms, and with product engineering teams that consume the pipelines.
  • Establish on call practices, incident response, SLOs, and continuous improvement loops for pipeline systems.
  • Recruit, mentor, and grow engineers and create an environment where strong engineers do their best work.
  • CI/CD pipelines are the circulatory system of an engineering organization, and AI is rapidly becoming part of that bloodstream. The Manager of Developer Tooling will lead the team that defines how code reaches production, safely, quickly, confidently, and increasingly with AI as a first class participant in the workflow. This is a critically important role with significant impact on engineering velocity and reliability across the company.

What Skills and Knowledge Will You Bring?

Ideal candidates will have:
  • 7 or more years of engineering experience with 2 or more years managing engineers, ideally in DevOps, platform engineering, or developer experience teams.
  • Strong hands-on background with CI/CD systems including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Tekton, or similar, including pipeline as code patterns.
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI tooling into the development workflow including AI code review, AI test generation, AI coding assistants, or engineering intelligence platforms such as LinearB, DX, Jellyfish, Faros, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of ArgoCD or comparable GitOps tooling and artifact management systems like Artifactory, Nexus, or Harbor.
  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes, containers, and cloud native deployment models.
  • Experience designing shared libraries, templates, or platforms used by many internal teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on technical leadership with people management responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to translate technical strategy for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A service mindset measured by the productivity and happiness of the engineers you serve.
