KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance & Reliability Leadership
- Own and drive plant-wide maintenance strategy, including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs
- Establish and continuously improve PM systems, work order execution, and spare parts strategy
- Drive measurable improvements in:
- Equipment uptime
- Mean time between failure (MTBF)
- Mean time to repair (MTTR)
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent corrective actions (PCA) for major downtime events
- Build a data-driven maintenance organization with strong KPI tracking and accountability
Facilities & Infrastructure
- Oversee all facility systems, including electrical, mechanical, and utilities infrastructure
- Lead capital planning and execution for facility upgrades and expansion
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Develop long-term strategies for capacity scaling and plant modernization
Manufacturing Engineering Leadership
- Lead the Manufacturing Engineering team to support production stability and continuous improvement
- Drive process standardization, line balancing, and labor optimization
- Support new product introductions (NPI) and ensure seamless equipment commissioning and ramp
- Partner with Operations to improve:
- Throughput (UPH)
- Yield and scrap reduction
- Overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
Controls & Automation Engineering
- Oversee Controls Engineering and automation systems across the plant
- Drive improvements in:
- PLC architecture and standardization
- Automation reliability
- Robotics performance (Fanuc, ABB, etc.)
- Lead integration of new automated systems and ensure robust handoff to production
- Establish best practices for troubleshooting, diagnostics, and system scalability
Process / Industrial Engineering
- Own process engineering and industrial engineering strategy
- Drive:
- Standard work development
- Time studies and labor modeling
- Capacity analysis and constraint identification
- Lead initiatives to improve:
- Cost per unit (CPU)
- Labor efficiency
- Production flow and takt alignment
Capital Projects & Equipment Launch
- Lead execution of new equipment installs, commissioning, and ramp-up
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure:
- Cycle time achievement
- Safety validation
- Production readiness
- Manage capital budgets and ensure ROI realization
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience in high-volume manufacturing, automation, and engineering leadership will be considered in lieu of a degree
- 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, maintenance, and automation within high-volume production environments
- Proven leadership experience managing:
- Maintenance
- Equipment/Manufacturing Engineering
- Controls Engineering
- PLC systems (Allen-Bradley preferred)
- Robotics
- Automated production systems
- Equipment commissioning and production ramp
- Preventive maintenance program development
- Downtime reduction and reliability improvement
- Root cause analysis (RCA)
- Continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Electrical systems and diagnostics
- Mechanical systems and fabrication
Pay TransparencyChemelex's pay scale is based on the expected range of compensation for this job and the employee's work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.
Compensation Range: $126,000 - $234,000
Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation.
