The Manager will need to effectively direct their team and deliver on short- and long-term Amgen operational and engineering goals.

Scope of Responsibility
  • Demonstrate technical leadership across engineering systems, equipment, utilities, process support, and/or site infrastructure.
  • Lead engineering support for manufacturing and site operations to ensure reliable, compliant, and efficient performance of equipment and systems.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, GMP requirements, engineering standards, safety requirements, change control processes, and applicable regulatory expectations.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, system performance concerns, process-support challenges, and operational disruptions in real time.
  • Participate in investigations, audits, and regulatory inspections as an engineering subject matter expert or technical owner.
  • Support deviation investigations, root cause analysis, CAPA development, change controls, technical evaluations, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Leading Strategy Development and Execution
  • Assist in developing and implementing departmental engineering strategy and plans that are aligned with the broader organizational strategy.
  • Anticipate technical, compliance, safety, reliability, and schedule risks and build contingencies to help mitigate impact.
  • Deliver strong business results through identification and implementation of continuous improvements that increase efficiency, equipment reliability, compliance, throughput, and operational resilience.
  • Support lifecycle management of equipment, systems, and infrastructure, including reliability improvements, obsolescence planning, and long-term asset strategy.

Building a Strong Organizational Alignment
  • Responsible for selection, training, evaluation, staff relations, and development of engineering staff.
  • Interact with management in optimizing organizational structure, technical responsibilities, and resource allocation.
  • Create an environment that fosters accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, learning, technical rigor, and knowledge-sharing.
  • Build and develop a diverse, impactful engineering team.
  • Develop strong relationships with staff members and provide open and clear feedback to improve individual and team performance.
  • Build strong partnerships with Manufacturing, Quality, Facilities, Maintenance, Process Engineering, Automation, and other cross-functional partners to ensure alignment on priorities, risks, and execution plans.

The onboarding phase for this role will last approximately 2-6 weeks, during which time successful incumbents will become familiar with site operations, engineering systems, quality processes, safety expectations, and cross-functional ways of working.
