The role...

The Engineering and Maintenance Manager is a key member of the site leadership team responsible for leading engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations. This role ensures the reliability and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment and facilities while managing capital projects, supporting operational excellence, driving cost efficiency, and fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

How you'll make an impact...

Lead & Develop
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering and maintenance teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with site leadership to support business priorities and operational excellence.
  • Champion a strong culture of safety, quality, and performance.

Drive Reliability & Improvement
  • Lead engineering and capital projects from concept through implementation, managing scope, timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and asset performance.
  • Identify and implement new technologies, equipment, and process improvements that enhance manufacturing performance.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, reliability, energy efficiency, and cost.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators to identify opportunities and drive results.

Manage Safety & Resources
  • Ensure engineering, maintenance, and facility activities meet company safety standards, OSHA requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems.
  • Develop and manage CAPEX, engineering, and maintenance budgets while identifying opportunities for greater cost efficiency.
  • Effectively manage contractors, labor, equipment, materials, and other resources to support operational needs.

What do you bring...
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering and manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting engineering operations within a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing capital projects, maintenance operations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in paper, pulp, or similar process manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience using SAP.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment reliability, and maintenance systems.
