Full Job Description
The Engineer Fellow - Data Center Engineering supports the design, analysis, and delivery of mission-critical infrastructure systems across the company's data center portfolio. This position plays a key role in developing reliable, efficient, and scalable solutions spanning power, cooling, and distribution systems that enable long-term growth and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with data center or other critical facilities, strong technical fundamentals in either mechanical or electrical engineering, and the ability to collaborate effectively across design, construction, and operations teams. A Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred.

This position is based in Dallas, TX, with a hybrid expectation of four days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Execution
  • Develop, review, and coordinate detailed designs for power, cooling, and infrastructure systems, including electrical distribution (UPS, switchgear, PDUs) and mechanical systems (chilled water, economization, liquid cooling).
  • Ensure system designs meet company standards for efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical evaluations for new builds, retrofits, and expansions.
  • Support load calculations, one-line diagrams, airflow and energy models, and performance validation.

Project Coordination & Delivery
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, consultants, and contractors through design, procurement, and commissioning.
  • Evaluate constructability and sequencing to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and field installations to ensure compliance with design intent.

System Optimization & Analysis
  • Perform root-cause and trend analysis on system performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify efficiency opportunities across power and cooling systems to reduce PUE and lifecycle cost.
  • Support standardization of engineering templates, specifications, and quality-assurance processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Construction, Operations, Controls, and Capacity Planning teams to ensure seamless handoffs from design through operations.
  • Communicate complex technical topics clearly to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and interns.

Required Skills & Experience

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.

Experience
  • 6-10 years of engineering experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities, or related infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in design fundamentals for power and/or mechanical systems, including redundancy (N+1, 2N) and reliability principles.
  • Familiarity with key codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA 70E, NEC, IEEE, local building/mechanical codes).
  • Experience with design and modeling tools (AutoCAD, Revit, CFD, or electrical load modeling software).

Skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Financial and technical acumen to balance performance, cost, and maintainability.
  • Effective communicator capable of leading technical discussions and resolving design challenges.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
