Full Job Description
About the Business Applications Org

The Business Applications org builds and operates the internal systems that help Thumbtack run effectively at scale: Salesforce-centered workflows, admin tooling, and integrations that connect teams across the company. We are expanding that work into a broader internal platform for business workflows, with shared APIs, reusable integration patterns, and safe, auditable workflows for business-critical actions across systems. This org collaborates closely with engineering and business teams to turn complex internal needs into systems that are easier to operate, extend, and automate responsibly.

The challenge

The company's internal systems are becoming more connected, more automated, and more central to how teams serve customers, pros, and the business. As AI tools and agents become part of everyday work, Business Applications has an opportunity to shape how those capabilities support the workflows teams already rely on, and to help teams use them well. The challenge for this leader is to help the org build on its foundation of critical Salesforce-centered systems work while leading the transition into a broader internal platform. This role will require balancing urgent business needs with longer-term platform investments and building trust with stakeholders who depend on these systems every day.

What you'll do
  • Work with business partners to understand high-value operational problems and turn them into clear technical direction for the team.
  • Lead BusApps beyond Salesforce-centered delivery into a broader internal platform for business workflows, including the AI-enabled workflows emerging across the company.
  • Build the path from promising local prototypes and agent experiments to production capabilities that business teams can adopt safely.
  • Own the operating model for application administrators, business application developers, and software engineers as the org expands its technical scope.
  • Set priorities in a way that keeps critical business work moving while creating room for durable platform investments.
In order to be successful, you must bring
  • Significant engineering leadership experience, including managing managers or senior technical leaders.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous business needs into clear technical strategy, durable roadmaps, and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong technical judgment for internal platforms that need to connect business workflows safely across multiple systems of record.
  • Experience leading internal platform or business applications teams that connect business workflows across systems of record.
  • Track record building high-performing teams through org design, role clarity, and leadership development.
  • Ability to earn trust with business partners while navigating priorities, tradeoffs, and adoption of new technical capabilities.
  • Practical experience bringing automation or AI-assisted workflows into production business processes, with the judgment to know where reliability, governance, and human review matter most.
