Description
The Engineering Director serves as the senior SIMO technical expert and resident authority for all FSEU design and system/maintenance engineering requirements, and manages all assigned SIMO engineering and project management functions. Ensures safety, reliability, and maintainability of new and existing FSEU through performing, or effectively supporting NASA-led efforts, as required to ensure effective design, construction management, and reliability best practices. Responsible for reliability centered maintenance strategy development and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Assess and validate FSEU to ensure safety, reliability, and performance specifications, operational constraints, launch induced environments, site conditions, and compliance with energy/environmental regulations.
- Ensure engineering team properly performs or supports NASA-led efforts to assess conditions, identify potential failures, determine causes, and issue corrective actions.
- Oversee SIMO assigned tasks in support of NASA-led engineering and project management activities, which may include design, analysis, construction, supervision, inspection, and engineering services (SIES).
- Responsible for supporting Engineering Review Board and Configuration Control Board activities for contractor-led designs.
- Verify compliance with LCAT standards.
- Provide guidance and decisions aligned with NASA and professional engineering standards.
- Review technical work for compliance, guide technical approaches, and analyze system designs.
- Serve as the senior technical representative of SIMO for reviews and advisory boards, including safety, quality, and risk assessments.
- Support NASA technical, program, and planning reviews as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, or structural engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Florida (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural).
- 20+ years in the respective discipline.
- 10+ years leading teams responsible for contract-wide engineering functions related to O&M of large infrastructure and hazardous systems.
- Familiarity with KSC operations, programs, and launch activities.
Desired Qualification:
- Additional certifications such as PMP, Certified Facility Manager from IFMA, or ICS.
- CMRP, OSHA 30 certifications preferred.
