The Role
Engineer Design 3 will provide cost, schedule, and earned value support to the Naval Architecture Cost Center CAMs. This role helps maintain compliant cost control systems, monitors cost and schedule performance, and ensures alignment with EVMS and government requirements. Responsibilities include preparing cost and schedule analyses, supporting monthly VAR compliance reviews, assisting with internal surveillance activities, coordinating EVMS training, maintaining earned value metrics, and supporting IBR preparation. The candidate must be able to work independently, demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills, and possess proficiency in Excel, Access, and working knowledge of SAP or similar systems.
Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.
Must Have
5 Years with Bachelor of Science degree in related field; 3 years of relevant professional experience with a Master's Degree; 0 years with a PhD.
Nice to Have
Preferred candidates will have experience with Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis tools, as well as working knowledge of Visual Basic or similar programming languages used for automation and process improvement. Experience with programming for data manipulation, reporting, or workflow optimization is highly desirable. Candidates should also have prior experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and a solid understanding of cost, schedule, and performance measurement concepts.
