Job Responsibilities:

COMPANY INTRODUCTION: Formet is part of Magna International, global tier 1 automotive supplier, which provides a comprehensive range of body, chassis and engineering solutions. Formet itself is one of the largest manufacturing employers in Southwestern Ontario producing body and chassis components for assembly plants across North America. Our 1.2 million square foot facility features industry-leading hydroforming, roll-forming, hot-stamping, robotic assembly and post-assembly coating processes. POSITION SUMMARY: Ensure that equipment meets or exceeds customer requirements with respect to safety, quality, flexibility and throughput. Establish process parameters and procedural requirements creating checks and balances to police conformance. Develop, analyze and implement continuous improvement ideas to meet long term customer required cost reductions and maintain profitability. The scope of work includes all capital equipment and tooling for internal manufacturing systems.

POSITION SALARY:
  • $84,062.76 - $101,961.78 CAD Annually
  • Weekly pay via direct deposit.
  • Overtime (1.5x) after 44 hours worked.
  • Vacation entitlement:
    • 2 weeks of paid vacation (3 weeks after 3 years) + 4 company paid holidays + 2x ½ days = 15 days annually.
    • Option to bank your overtime to earn up to an extra 5 days of paid time off (approved in the same manner as vacation time) (27 hours x 1.5 = 40 hours).
  • Medical and dental benefits after 1 month of employment.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Engineering Degree/Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and applicable work-related experience or hold a Certificate of Qualification in a related trade.
  • Must have 2 years of relevant experience.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
  • Robotic spot/MIG weld assembly experience considered as an asset.
  • PMP/ P.ENG. Certification considered as an asset.
  • Mechanical Aptitude is considered as an asset.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepare cycle-time analysis and/or time studies, to facilitate line balancing and optimize performance.
  • Analyze downtime data and quality concerns while working with a cross functional team to generate and implement solutions to solve for root cause.
  • Prepare technical presentations to engineering and management teams.
  • Review feasibility of customer and internally driven engineering changes, quote the financial impacts of the change and eventually source, install and commission the equipment to implement.
  • Lead root cause investigations for machine breakdowns and quality defects.
  • Generate scope of work documents for new program launches, ECN's, and Continuous Improvement Projects to vendors.
  • Work with multiple vendors and integrators to design and launch new manufacturing and assembly processes from concept to SOP and beyond.
  • Research, source and implement new technologies to improve manufacturing process safety, quality, productivity and cost reduction.
  • Assist in setting up preventative/predictive maintenance requirements.
  • Establish, monitor and control timeline planning, budgets and resources for small and major projects including engineering changes and new equipment builds for program launches.
  • Travel to customers/vendors to investigate quality concerns; tooling build process and buyoffs.
  • Prepare reports, charts and other documentation required for engineering records and projects.
  • Coordinate and assist in activities for successful attainment of customer quality milestones.
  • Provide product design direction based on part manufacturability.
  • Perform other duties as designated.
