As an E&C Underwriter based in Toronto, you'll be at the forefront of risk assessment and business development for construction projects spanning power generation, manufacturing, infrastructure, building construction, and heavy civil works. You'll leverage your technical knowledge and market insights to craft tailored insurance solutions that meet client needs while maintaining profitability.
Key Responsibilities- Generate and underwrite new business in the engineering and construction sector with brokers and clients throughout Canada
- Extend Swiss Re's market presence by assessing, proposing, and negotiating insurance conditions for large and mid-sized construction projects
- Collaborate closely with Canadian and Global teams to ensure consistent client and broker relationships
- Assess risks, coverage, terms and conditions while driving underwriting processes within appropriate risk management frameworks
- Efficiently triage new submissions to maximize productivity and response times
- Serve as a technical reference within the global Engineering & Construction community, tracking new technologies and market trends
- Support cross-selling opportunities and contribute to solution and marketing strategy development tailored to client needs

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:- In-depth knowledge of insurance, engineering and construction underwriting, and the Canadian insurance market
- Minimum 2-5 years of underwriting experience or equivalent

- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills

The base salary hiring range for this existing position located in Toronto is CAD $95,000 to $124,000. The specific base salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.
