Salary Range: $78,000.00 to $98,000.00
The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing welding processes and procedures to ensure the highest quality and efficiency in our production operations. The ideal candidate will have a background in welding engineering, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
The key responsibilities of the Welding Engineer will include:
1.Design and Development: Design and develop welding processes and procedures to meet production requirements.
2.Process Optimization: Optimize welding processes to improve efficiency, quality, and reduce costs.
3.Quality Control: Ensure that all welding operations meet quality and safety standards.
4.Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot welding-related issues and implement corrective actions.
5.Collaboration: Work closely with production teams, quality control, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless operations
Develops, analyzes, researches, and designs welding techniques, procedures, and applications. Uses engineering principles to manipulate materials for fabrication and assembly processes. Prepares technical documentation in order to implement waterfront welding processes including specifications, analyses, standards, and restrictions. Creates new or modifies current welding methods, techniques, and procedures in order to substantiate welding theories.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Nice to Have
• Understanding of welding engineering and design principles and how they apply to shipbuilding
• Knowledge of submarine/carriers welding and how it interfaces with structural, electrical and mechanical systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven technical writing ability.
• DOD Security Clearance may be required
