Job Summary

GA-ASI seeks a Simulation Integration Engineer to support the development and integration of advanced 3D collaborative simulation environments for training and mission rehearsal. This role focuses on integrating uncrewed aircraft, sensor, weapon, and target models into a real-time distributed simulation architecture using DIS and HLA protocols. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Virtual Reality Scene Generator (VRSG) and/or the MAK Technologies (VT MAK) simulation suite, strong networking fundamentals, and a deep understanding of simulation interoperability and Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) environments. This position typically reports to a Manager or Senior Manager and is responsible for the architecture and integration of multiple information technology systems in a collaborative simulations environment. Applies established technologies that require advanced principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems. Responsible for decisions that could have an extended impact on outcomes where erroneous decisions could result in critical delays and modifications to programs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Integrate aircraft, sensor, and weapon system models into distributed 3D simulation environments
  • Develop DIS-based communication architectures
  • Configure MAK Technologies tools (VR-Forces, VR-Engage, MAK RTI, VR-Link)
  • Enable multicast streaming of simulated sensor video and entity data
  • Integrate synthetic ISR payloads (EO/IR video, imagery)
  • Ensure interoperability using DIS, HLA, and related standards
  • Support LVC training environments and mission rehearsal
  • Develop and troubleshoot simulation scenarios
  • Resolve network latency and synchronization issues
  • Collaborate across engineering and training teams
  • Document system architecture and interfaces

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education
  • Experience with DIS (IEEE 1278)
  • Experience with VRSG and/or MAK Technologies suite
  • Strong understanding of real-time simulation systems
  • Experience integrating aircraft or mission systems
  • Networking proficiency in routing, subnetting, TCP/IP, UDP, multicast (IGMP, PIM), packet analysis (Wireshark), latency and QoS
  • Must be able to develop solutions to complex problems that require coordination of technologies across program requirements
  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives
  • Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required
  • Proven technical skills and a proven capacity to develop and lead complex, cross-functional development projects
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required
  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Familiarity with the following systems:
    • VoIP, HLA and RTI
    • Knowledge of LVC environments
    • Unity or Unreal experience
