Job Summary

We are seeking an Project Engineer with Associate Cost Account Management (CAM) responsibilitiesto join our team working on satellite systems. This role combines technical expertise with program management support and earned value management (EVM) responsibilities, offering an excellent opportunity for growth in both areas. As a key member of the project engineering team, you will drive engineering execution, coordinate cost and schedule performance, and advance GA-EMS satellite products and technologies. The position involves guiding cross-functional teams, monitoring program performance, and supporting technical and programmatic milestones. This role reports to the Project Engineering Manager, Space Programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan and execute engineering development efforts for new or existing programs, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, and performance commitments.
  • Lead engineering activities for cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Coordinate engineering tasks and actions to closure in a timely manner, providing updates to Program Management and senior leadership.
  • Facilitate preparation for major program milestone reviews, such as SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and ORR, ensuring entrance and exit criteria are met.
Program Management Support:
  • Assist in managing and executing the program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS):
    • Coordinate engineering inputs to the IMS, track schedule metrics, and assess performance corrections when needed.
    • Work with Program Management, Engineering, and Project Controls to update task forecasts and engineering manpower estimates
    • Evaluate IMS critical path and recommend schedule compression or risk reduction opportunities.
  • Actively manage risks by identifying, tracking, and assessing their impact on program cost and schedule.
  • Monitor and assist with the management of cost, schedule, or technical scope changes, supporting change management processes.
  • Represent engineering efforts to both the functional organization and Program Management.
Earned Value Management (EVM) and CAM Responsibilities:
  • Partner with Program Management and IPT Leads to monitor program cost and schedule performance.
  • Develop and evaluate EVM reports for multiple control accounts, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain cost and schedule Estimate To Complete (ETC) updates in collaboration with IPT Leads.
  • Support development of Basis of Estimates for engineering tasks on proposals and changes to existing projects.
  • Conduct periodic program planning meetings with Program Management, IPT Leads, and Project Controls.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain large-scale tracking and burn-down workbooks, including action item lists, design review checklists, and deliverable requirement lists.
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports, proposals, and presentations.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and make technical presentations as required.
  • Mentor emerging talent and collaborate across organizations to drive program success.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) or similar schedule/cost frameworks, including supporting EVMS status updates.
  • CAM or EVMS certification is highly desired.
  • Familiarity with initiation, planning, and management of projects
  • Understanding of Risk Management processes, practices, and policies with experience in implementing risk management on executing programs
  • Ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of non-routine matters of diverse scope and nature
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project is required and familiarity with Windchill, Atlassian, and SAP software products are desired.
  • Working knowledge/experience of space systems product lines and customers and DOD experience is highly desired.
  • Must be customer focused and able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance; active Top Secret (TS)/SCI clearance is desired.
