Currently, we are seeking a qualified
Structural Engineer to work collaboratively with our Fabrication Shop in
Anderson, California . This position is not remote and will require living in the commutable Anderson area.
About the Position - Design structures and foundations for sawmill, kiln, cogeneration, and planermill equipment and buildings
- Develop and improve lumber processing equipment
- Prepare plans, drawings, and calculations that will be submitted to county, city, or other governing bodies
- Facilitate the smooth and quick approval of plans
- Effectively model detailed concepts and designs using 3D modeling software
- Provide leadership and direction to fabricators, assemblers, machinists, and shop personnel
- Collaborate with company operations to understand complete application and needs
- Coordinate activities relative to the development of new equipment
- Learn and take on engineering projects with a mechanical emphasis when structural emphasis is not needed
- Work to continuously learn and improve knowledge of industry and equipment
Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural
- 4 years' experience in structural with familiarity with wood, steel, masonry and concrete buildings including structural calculation, foundation design, detailing and construction administration
- California P.E. or S.E. license with ability to get reciprocity in Oregon and Washington
- Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD and willingness to learn SolidWorks
- Knowledge of the structural provisions of the California Building Code, IBC, and ASCE 7
- Working knowledge of structural steel, welding, and foundation design
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated ability to contribute creative solutions and succeed in an innovative environment
- Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The general wage range for this position at Sierra Pacific Industries is from $80,000 and $125,000 per year, and is dependent upon a number of factors, including, but not limited to: relevant work experience, skill, knowledge, and/or education.
