Engineer I: $68,500 - $85,600 - $102,700

Engineer II: $83,600 - $104,500 - $125,400

Staff Engineer: $93,400 - $116,800 - $140,200

Sr Engineer: $94,600 - $126,500 - $157,600

Lead Engineer: $111,400 - $148,500 - $185,600

Principal Engineer: $116,200 - $154,900 - $193,600

What we are looking for: Wolf Creek has an immediate opening for a full-time Engineer, entry level through experienced of most disciplines, to work within the Engineering Programs - Design Engineering Group based in Burlington, KS. This position will be assigned to the Inservice Testing program and will become the technical expert and owner responsible for the planning, scheduling and implementation of the program in accordance with applicable requirements. More details are provided below.

Scheduled Work Hours/Location:

We offer a 4-day work week, Monday - Thursday, with a hybrid remote option to work from home up to 25% of the time.

Many of our employees commute from nearby cities, with Burlington being the nearest town 10 minutes away. Wolf Creek Generating Station is approximately 40 minutes from Emporia, 60 minutes from Topeka, 45 minutes from Ottawa, and 75 minutes from Olathe.

Job Specific Functions:

The Engineering Programs Engineer will provide technical support and engineering expertise for implementing the Inservice Testing Program at Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation.

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Advance the current Wolf Creek Inservice Testing Program, by incorporating industry guidance and participating in IST Owners Group Discussion Forum, to ensure the required pump and valve testing is met. The IST Engineer interfaces with multiple groups at Wolf Creek to meet this goal.
• As Primary Owner, review surveillance procedures that test safety related pumps and valves that are in the IST program. Trend test data in a database and reviewed for degrading trends. Communicate with the Operations Surveillance Coordinator for any testing issues or changes. Advocate margin improvements where necessary.
• As Primary Owner, review IST related Post Maintenance Test results to determine if new acceptance criteria is needed and initiating surveillance procedure changes. Also provide IST input for Design Modifications that affect IST components and revise IST documents affected by the modification.
• As Primary Owner, maintain and revise program documents as necessary including, WCOP-02 - IST Program Document, and WCRE-34 - IST Basis Document. Also, IST program procedures AP 29B-001, 002 and 004.
• As Primary Owner, update Program Health Report every 6 months, coordinate and appropriately budget 10 year interval update of the program with vendor support.

Education and Experience Requirements:

The Engineer I position requires a BS degree in Engineering.

The Engineer II position requires a BS degree in Engineering and two years relevant experience.

The Staff Engineer position requires a BS degree in Engineering and four years relevant.

The Senior Engineer position requires a BS degree in Engineering and eight years of relevant experience and registered engineering in training (EIT) or board recognized industry certification preferred.

The Lead Engineer position requires a BS degree in Engineering and twelve years of relevant experience and a Kansas Professional Engineer License is preferred .

Relevant experience for these positions is defined as professional level experience in engineering, engineering support or nuclear plant operations and support. The incumbent must possess engineering expertise related to the general area of assignment such as electrical, mechanical, civil, nuclear, etc.

Curriculum must be accredited by the accreditation board for engineering and technology (ABET): Any other baccalaureate engineering curriculum that has not been accredited by ABET but has been evaluated and found to be of an equivalent standard that may be reviewed and accepted by the Kansas Board of Technical Professions is acceptable.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:

This position requires the ability to: read, analyze, and interpret the complex documents; respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints; make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, and/or boards of directors.

This position requires the ability to: comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory; work with concepts such as limits, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.

This position requires the ability to: apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases; deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to pass vision requirements associated with Company physical in order to read detailed engineering prints and drawings and inspect equipment installations and job sites.

This position requires the ability to work in a moderately noisy environment (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
