DescriptionNorthrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer or Principal Engineer Systems to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located onsite in Melbourne, FL.
We are seeking a dynamic Systems Engineer (SE) to provide technical support to a high visibility capability upgrade program. The successful candidate will coordinate with all SE disciplines—Safety, Requirements & Verification, Specialty Engineering, etc. —towards ensuring the program goals are appropriately met for system-level (and Supplier) Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) within schedule, cost, and performance objectives. This role demands a technically driven and organized individual, whom supports the overall goals of the team and program.
Roles and Responsibilities will include:
- Support Spec Development (to include creation of verification statements)
- Support Supplier Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs)
- Support internal (NGAS) technical meetings
- Requirements & Verification Management (DOORS)
- Ensure requirements are captured, traced, and verified throughout the lifecycle.
- Support the execution of multiple supplier events, to include development and review of technical content
- Develop PDR Content
- Participate in working group discussions with government customers
Basic Qualifications:
For Principal Engineer (Level 2):
- Must have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related professional/military experience in Systems Engineering, OR a Master's Degree and 0 years of related professional/military experience in Systems Engineering.
For Senior Principal Engineer (Level 3):
- Must have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience in Systems Engineering, OR a Master's Degree and 3 years of related professional/military experience in Systems Engineering, OR a Ph.D. and 1 years of related professional/military experience in Systems Engineering.
Applicable For Both Levels:
- Must have an active US Government Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable period of time, as determined by business needs.
- Experience with Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, etc)
- Previous experience with requirements definitions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of lab and system-level test planning and execution, system safety, requirements & verification, and specialty engineering domains
- Experience with IBM DOORS
- Experience briefing technical reviews with USG Customers
- Prior experience with capability upgrade programs
- Familiarity with comms systems
- Experience with military aircraft
Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
