Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Produce, communicate, and steward weekly Open Pit mine plans.
  • Develop strategies to optimize mine production.
  • Engage stakeholders to manage change in mine initiatives.
  • Report daily progress on drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling during production meetings.
  • Provide daily and weekly ore blends to the mill.
  • Conduct haul road inspections and report findings to leadership.
  • Track waste dump development compliance against plans and designs.
  • Conduct daily mine tours with Mine Operations General Supervisor.
  • Create and maintain aggregate production schedules.
  • Provide drill patterns and mining limits to the survey team.
  • Mentor and support EITs and new members of the Mine Engineering team.
  • Promote Health and Safety through departmental H&S meetings.
  • Assume responsibility for the Open Pit Engineering team in Supervisor's absence.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Open Pit Engineering, you will be part of the Engineering Department. You will act as the liaison between the Engineering, Geology, and Mine Operations departments regarding all short-range production related activities. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

  • Accountable to produce, communicate, and steward weekly Open Pit mine plans;


  • Developing new strategies and ideas to optimize mine production;


  • Engage various stakeholders to manage change of new initiatives or mine plan objectives;


  • Report daily advance (Drill, Blast, Load, Haul) at the morning production meeting;


  • Providing the mill with daily and weekly ore blends;


  • Conduct haul road inspections and submit reports to Engineering and Operations leadership;


  • Track compliance of waste dump development compared to plan and design;


  • Conduct a daily mine tour with Mine Operations General Supervisor;


  • Create and maintain the aggregate production schedule;


  • Provide drill pattern, mining, and placement limits to open pit survey team;


  • Mentor and support EIT's and newer members of the Mine Engineering team;


  • Promote Health and Safety by participating and hosting the monthly Departmental H&S meeting;


  • Responsible for the Open Pit Engineering team in the absence of the Supervisor if required.


WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor's degree in mining engineering;


  • 4 years of experience in mining operations;


  • Member of the Canadian Engineering society and/or eligible for NAPEG license is an asset


  • Experience in Open Pit mine planning, drill and blast, or operations supervision;


  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;


  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;


  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;


  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
