Full Job Description
Job Description:

The Engineer will be responsible for operation, maintenance, and repair of the building ensuring optimal performance of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and automation systems within a Class A office building. Key responsibilities include conducting routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure compliance with efficiency standards, monitoring BAS and responding to alarms, completing chemical testing for the spa area daily, and delivering superior customer service to our tenants.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills and the ability to foster a collaborative team environment, delivering superior operational standards and maintaining building infrastructure excellence. Experience working within a Class A office building environment preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Support the engineering team, ensuring efficient operations and team development.
  • Complete preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks for all building systems.
  • Use critical thinking to troubleshoot and resolve problems that may come up in the mechanical systems.
  • Read, analyze and implement Standard Operating Procedures that have been put into practice by Chief Engineer and/or Assistant Chief Engineer.
  • Monitor and operate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems to maintain optimal performance.
  • Respond to and resolve building emergencies, ensuring minimal disruption to tenants.
  • Act as a point of contact for tenant facility needs, addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Respond in a timely fashion to tenant service requests.
  • Communicate professionally with tenants giving them high-end customer service that a class A commercial building demands.
  • Assist with inventory management for tools, supplies and spare parts, ensuring readiness for repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of system operations, maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Fulfill all training requirements on building systems, safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections of building and equipment to identify potential issues.
  • Recommend improvements in building systems and processes to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Perform daily water/chemical testing of hot spa & cold plunge pools systems and equipment.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • High school diploma; an associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field preferred.
  • City of Chicago Stationary Engineer license.
  • Universal CFC Certificate.
  • Illinois Pool Certificate.
  • Relevant certifications such as OSHA, HVAC, and LEED Green Associates are highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building management systems (BMS).
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and building automation systems.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, workplace safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Ability to retain information given by Chief Engineer and/or Assistant Chief Engineer.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for complex building systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with tenants, vendors, and team members.
  • Competence in planning and executing maintenance and capital improvement projects.
  • Flexibility to respond to after-hours emergencies and work varying shifts as required by Chief Engineer.


Salary Range:

$51.54 per hour
