Salary Range: $84,000.00 to $101,000.00

The Role
Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
This position will support facilities projects and engineering team in either the plant engineering, project engineering, or crane engineering team. Skills that will be developed as part of this position are: knowledge of applicable regulations, codes and standards; the ability to design, evaluate, maintain and troubleshoot industrial equipment and systems; and skills that support execution of projects such as planning and implementation. These projects support facilities engineering in facility infrastructure (utility systems), building systems (HVAC, plumbing, etc) and industrial equipment specification, maintenance and repair. The candidate shall have basic mechanical knowledge and be capable of solving problems in an organized manner. Basic MS Office suit and AutoCAD skills are needed (Word and Excel) as well as the ability to communicate clearly with supervisors, peers and customers.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 0 years of relevant exempt experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
