Job Summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity in Poway, CA. for an Industrial Engineer within our ASI Division.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the analysis and optimization of manpower, facility space, materials, equipment, and information flow for major processes or value streams.
  • Drive the design and implementation of advanced process improvements across manufacturing, logistics, and operations, often spanning multiple departments or sites.
  • Act as a primary industrial engineering resource on cross-functional projects, operating with minimal direction and significant responsibility for results.
  • Anticipate operational risks and future capacity or capability needs; develop robust, data-driven solutions to complex technical and business problems.
  • Lead the resolution of complex technical issues, selecting and applying advanced industrial engineering, lean, and automation concepts.
  • Collaborate closely with Design Engineering to influence product and process architectures during prototype, development, and first article phases to enable scalable, efficient production.
  • Partner with Operations Program Management and P&L leadership to define and optimize processes for international operations and foreign customers, including logistics and compliance considerations.
  • Establish, standardize, and continuously improve work instructions, routings, and process documentation for multiple product families or production areas.
  • Communicate technical strategies, process changes, and improvement results clearly and persuasively to stakeholders at multiple levels, including management.
  • Contribute significantly to site or business-level planning, including data and recommendations for capital investments, automation, footprint optimization, and digital transformation initiatives.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Preferred engineering disciplines include Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in manufacturing and production environment preferred. Defense and Aeronautical industry a plus.
  • Extensive experience managing engineering change processes, including impact analysis, coordination across functions, and implementation on the shop floor.
  • Advanced proficiency with engineering drawings, complex BOM structures, and configuration control in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise applying Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to drive measurable improvements in cost, quality, delivery, and safety (e.g., leading kaizen events, advanced problem-solving). Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt required or equivalent experience leading major LSS initiatives, Black Belt preferred.
  • Advanced experience leading the use of discrete-event simulation tools (e.g., Simio, Plant Simulation, Arena) to design, optimize, and justify changes to complex manufacturing systems.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and AutoCAD tools for facility/floor layouts and tooling concepts; experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Power BI, Tableau) desirable.
  • Proven experience in time studies, work measurement, capacity and resource planning, and layout optimization for complex processes or value streams.
  • Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments; aerospace/defense and familiarity with AS9100 and RCCA processes preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional efforts, manage multiple projects, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at various organizational levels.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance is required.
