Full Job Description
Job Summary

General Atomics Survivability group has an exciting position available for an IR Designer and Analyst to support Infrared (IR) analysis and design support across a variety of platforms.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Significant experience in modeling and analyzing IR signature and design optimization.
  • Assist in design development and iteration with other functional IPT stakeholders to meet LO requirements.
  • Support the development and validation of IR test methodology. Will require the identification of acceptable measurement tools and development of processes.
  • Perform IR analysis using industry standard tools
  • Generate performance assessments, risk identification and mitigation recommendations for GA developed designs.
  • Familiarity with state of the art materials.
  • Provide program planning and technical leadership to IRAD and CRAD projects targeting development and implementation of Survivability technologies.
  • Ensure compliance, reporting, and safety standards are maintained. Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures.
  • Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; six or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, four or more years of experience with a masters degree, or two or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Experience with basic IR principles.
  • Experience in developing and executing design of experiments.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Strong team player with leadership potential qualities. The successful candidate will work under general supervision, following established procedures
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice in a relevant industry and product.
  • Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in in Electromagnetics, Chemistry, Physics preferred.
  • Experience with Six Sigma techniques.
  • Experience developing and fabricating composite structures with an emphasis on low observable materials and structures.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating LO compatible systems into aircraft platforms.
