Division/Site Specific Information

Role reports to the Allentown, PA site and reports to the Clinical Trials Division (CTD). As a Manufacturing Engineer III at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will optimize production processes, implement new technologies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. You'll work with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient manufacture of high-quality products while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. A Day in the Life:
  • You will manage process improvement projects, provide technical expertise for new product introductions, develop and validate manufacturing processes, and implement automation solutions.
  • Working with Quality, Production, and other departments, you'll optimize existing processes while ensuring consistent product quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Your analytical skills and engineering expertise will help drive cost reductions, improve efficiency, and enhance manufacturing capabilities across our operations.

  • Demonstrates and promotes the company vision of the 4 I's: Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and involvement
  • Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
  • Establishes a solid focus on long-term continuous improvement activities through interaction with the entire Engineering and Operations Staff. Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of new equipment / technology
  • Collaborate with Production to modify workflow barriers and arrangements in order to increase throughput
  • Recognizes and Resolves process flow barriers through daily observations and interaction with production personnel
  • Recommends cost saving initiatives as it relates to business objectives, current Projects, and future investments in technology and Production / Manufacturing processes
  • Drives engineering project initiatives to increase machine speeds, reduce labor hours, and reduce reject rates
  • Completes deviation investigations, change controls and corrective/preventative actions
  • Evaluates and standardizes machine setups to maximize both running speed and quality
  • Provides and maintains other supporting documentation for designs and projects
  • Provides technical specifications for Engineering project designs, and machine upgrades

Keys to Success:
Education
  • A four-year Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Packaging, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline highly preferred.
  • High school diploma, or equivalent required.
Experience
  • 2 years of relevant engineering experience with a BS degree, or an equivalent combination of technical certification and 5-10 years of applicable GMP, pharmaceutical, food, or manufacturing experience without a degree.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Well versed in process improvement, industrial design applications that pertain to a job shop environment.
  • Must have prior mechanical and process equipment experience.
  • Must be results oriented and comfortable training and coaching others
  • Must have a baseline level of mechanical aptitude established by testing
  • Must have strong analytical skills
  • Must be able to multitask and respond to shifting priorities
  • Must be proficient with computer software (MS Office) and have expertise with spreadsheets
  • Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Mastery of skills required to read, understand, and adhere to the SOPs and policies of a GMP environment
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs
