Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer in the GA-EMS Systems Engineering department, located in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The candidate with previous Systems Engineering experience, with working knowledge of MBSE and requirements development, is responsible for evaluating and updating requirements first established for the U.S. Navy Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) programs and adapting those requirements for design enhancements or to align with foreign customer requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide technical analyses and judgement, using a systems engineering approach, for the development, fabrication, testing, and integration of new or existing systems within GA-EMS.
  • Coordinate and interface with customers, contractors, and engineering groups assigned to projects.
  • Utilize requirements management tools Cameo Systems Modeler, CATIA Magic, and/or DOORS to support requirements development/management and component specifications.
  • Perform system analysis and generate system, sub-system, component, and software requirements to disseminate among hardware, firmware, and software design architects.
  • Lead verification and validation efforts with analyses and coordination with Test teams for qualification testing.
  • May represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts.
  • Assist in development of program plans, estimates, and schedules.
  • Support the development of test plans and manage the integration, verification and validation of systems through qualification testing.
  • Develop technical material for design reviews, including presenting to the customer.
  • Direct activities of design or technical staff and/or lead a team of junior professional staff.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in various engineering areas.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level, to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Must have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
  • Must be able to demonstrate technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as supporting project and/or program leadership with organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established project deadlines or milestones.
  • A Professional Engineering License is desirable.
  • Must be customer focused and able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance is required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience with ALRE systems;
  • Experience in the application of IEEE Standard 1233, Guide for Developing System Requirements Specifications;
  • Experience in the application of IEEE Standard 15288.2, Standard for Technical Reviews and Audits on Defense Programs;
  • Experience in the application of the NAVAIR Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR) process per NAVAIR SETR Process Handbook.
