Position: Engineer II (Protection and Control)
Position Type: Full-time
Position Location: Mississauga, Ontario

Job Description and Summary:
RCMT Energy Services is seeking to hire an experienced Engineer for Protection and Control of High Voltage Substations to join its team in Mississauga, ON Canada.
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of engineering and design of protection and control systems with minimal guidance from other senior engineers. Must be able to work with minimal guidance.
Projects may include travel to client sites as needed to perform job functions at existing facilities such as, but not limited to, acquiring field data necessary to prepare the appropriate design.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare protection and control deliverables such as electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, protection logic, and control schemes.
  • Preparation of Protection Relay Setting and Configuration files ( Client UR relays, SEL, ABB, Siemens IED devices, etc.).
  • Preparation of engineering studies and reports ( protection coordination studies, short circuit analysis, p ower flow calculation, arc flash analysis, battery and charger calculation, transformer sizing etc.)
  • Develop HMI programing and configuration, architectural network configuration, RTU configuration, telecommunications, networking, SCADA communication and interface engineering.
  • Support Senior Engineers in the preparation of the Equipment Technical Specifications, reports, and other documentation related to protection and control systems.
  • Plan, monitor and control assigned projects, including coordination with other engineers, designers, drafters and project stakeholders as directed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Assist with commissioning and testing of protection and control systems.

Requirements:
  • Must have a bachelor's degree (BS or BE) in Engineering, preferably in Electrical.
  • Must have a P.Eng. License in Canada.
  • 4(+) years of experience in Engineering and Design in High Voltage Substations Protection and Control Systems.
  • Experienced in IEC 61850, SCADA, DNP3, MODBUS, and RTU protocols.
  • Must be computer proficient with Microsoft Office software products.
  • Experienced in CADD software (AutoCAD and MicroStation and their related products)
  • Must demonstrate ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and apply individual judgment, initiative and decision making.
  • The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with clients, equipment vendors and construction contractors.
  • Must have the ability to be flexible and work with competing priorities.
  • To be Canadian Permanent Resident or to hold a valid work permit for work in Canada.
