Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer supporting Test Operations at our facilities located in sunny Southern California. In this role you will be working on cutting-edge technology, analyzing, investigating, and resolving moderately complex infrastructure and systems engineering problems. Assignments may include independent responsibility for small to medium projects or significant phase(s) of larger projects and are typically outlined in terms of overall engineering objectives.

DUTIES ANSD RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Applies engineering knowledge to analyze, investigate, and resolve moderately complex infrastructure and systems engineering problems related to computing systems, operating systems, networking, virtualization platforms, and supporting services.
  • Designs, deploys, and maintains infrastructure systems including servers, virtual machines, system software, and related services.
  • Performs functional testing, validation, and troubleshooting of infrastructure systems, equipment, and software utilizing standard engineering and technical principles.
  • Documents findings and implemented solutions and communicates results to project engineering staff.
  • Monitors system performance, system logs, and operational alerts and performs detailed analysis of diagnostic and performance data to identify root causes of system issues.
  • Implements system improvements, infrastructure upgrades, and operational automation to improve system reliability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation including system configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Contributes to the planning, design, implementation, and improvement of computing and infrastructure systems including system deployment, performance monitoring, automation, and operational reliability.
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion regarding matters of technical significance.
  • Works closely with project engineering staff to evaluate system performance, troubleshoot complex operational issues, and implement infrastructure improvements.
  • May lead small engineering efforts or technical phases of larger projects related to infrastructure deployment or system improvements.
  • Provides technical guidance to junior engineers, design staff, or technicians supporting system deployment, testing, or maintenance activities.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information including system architecture, operational data, and security-related information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelors degree. Equivalent systems engineering or infrastructure experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate a solid understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory related to computing systems, operating systems, networking, virtualization platforms, and distributed systems.
  • Demonstrates the ability to independently apply engineering knowledge, adapt standard techniques, evaluate system performance, and utilize advanced diagnostic tools and system management utilities while ensuring system reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with infrastructure technologies such as server operating systems, virtualization platforms, system monitoring tools, automation tools, and networking fundamentals is desirable.
  • Must be able to learn new technologies quickly and apply them accurately within an evolving infrastructure environment.
  • Good communication, computer, and interpersonal skills are required to effectively collaborate with engineering teams, produce technical documentation, and present results to internal technical and managerial audiences.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
  • Relevant professional certifications in infrastructure technologies, operating systems, networking, or cloud platforms are desirable.
  • An EIT (Engineer in Training) certificate is desirable where applicable.
