Job DescriptionThe Remote Sensing Laboratory-Nellis (RSLN) Special Programs group is seeking an outstanding candidate for an Electrical Engineer position supporting various projects that range from R&D-like efforts to production level fabrication. The ideal candidate will work with an agile team of engineers and help bring an innovative mechanical approach to solve challenging problems.
Key Responsibilities- Design circuitry for systems that meet project needs and requirements.
- Design and develop RF systems and embedded hardware for innovative applications.
- Collaborate with Software Engineers to ensure hardware-software integration.
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to ensure hardware compatibility.
- Develop processes, procedures, and work instructions to ensure project success.
- Ability to design and fabricate custom PCBs using Altium.
- Ability to read and analyze data sheets.
- Ability to test and troubleshoot circuit designs ensuring desired performance.
- Must be able to learn and adapt rapidly to project timelines.
- Develop novel equipment designs within a small agile team setting.
- Work closely within the team to ensure project success from the electrical engineering standpoint.
- Prepare reports and analysis supporting various projects.
- The desired candidate is a person that enjoys problem solving and innovative thinking.
- Perform tasks within time and budget constraints.
- Assists in defining specifications for procurements and initiates purchase requests.
- May monitor work of technicians and other support personnel working on their projects.
- Perform related work as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
QualificationsDue to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.Minimum Education and Experience:- Bachelor's degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering degrees;
- Or, Calculus-based STEM bachelor's degree in engineering
- Or, for Architects, Certification from the National Council or Architectural Registration Board (NCARB)
- Or Professional Engineer license
- Skill building experience must demonstrate either deeper technical specialization or additional cross disciplinary knowledge. Graduate research experience may be recognized.
- Ability to interpret codes and standards within the discipline in which they were hired.
- Excellent communications skills are highly desired.
- Experience with other engineering disciplines is highly desired.
- The primary work location will be based at the Remote Sensing Laboratory at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV (RSL-N).
- Work schedule for this position will be 4/10's, Monday - Thursday (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Annual salary range for this position is:
$67,704.00 - $101,566.40.Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
