Join Golden Valley Electric Association as an Engineer in the beautiful city of Fairbanks, where you'll help design, plan, and maintain the electrical infrastructure that powers Interior Alaska. This is an exciting opportunity to launch or grow your engineering career while working on projects that directly support the reliability and future of our electric system. With a competitive starting annual salary of $78,705 - $126,585 (annually) Grade 10-14. YOUR ROLE AS AN ENGINEER

As an Engineer, you'll support the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of GVEA's electrical system while working alongside experienced engineers and field crews. You'll contribute to a variety of transmission, distribution, and generation projects, helping ensure our system remains safe, reliable, and efficient.

In this role, you'll assist with project planning and design, engineering studies, system analysis, construction support, and technical problem-solving. You'll also work with contractors, internal departments, and GVEA members to develop practical solutions that support our communities and the cooperative's long-term success.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

To succeed as an Engineer, you'll have a strong technical foundation in electrical engineering along with a desire to learn, collaborate, and solve complex problems. You'll be comfortable balancing office and field work while managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with employees, contractors, vendors, and members. Experience using engineering software, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications is highly desirable.
Knowledge and skills required for the position include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with an emphasis in Power Engineering.
  • Successful completion of the Alaska Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam or the ability to obtain it within two years of hire.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, mathematics, physics, and electrical system design.
  • Familiarity with engineering analysis software, AutoCAD, and Autodesk products.
  • Ability to prepare designs, estimates, budgets, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
