Job Summary

Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing intermediate level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.

Job Description

What you’ll do:

  • Able to identify issues with processes and tools and provide possible solutions and provide input to more seasoned personnel. Able to complete complex RPA with both new and legacy aspects.
  • Completes RPA with limited supervision. Able to complete complex RTU configuration with both new and legacy aspects. Completes configuration with limited supervision. Beginning to expand communication technology competency to include legacy applications (Async, Sync, AEP, etc) Able to support stakeholders with common SCADA related issues.
  • Able to complete alarm and basic I/O 2411 settings for both greenfield and brownfield projects with limited supervision. Implements standards in appropriate measures with limited guidance from higher-level team members.
  • Assists higher level team members with overall SCADA compliance items.
  • Technical Expertise: Possesses advanced knowledge and performs varied assignments with proficiency in the application of theory and analytical techniques to solve diverse problems and complete extensive analyses. Understands interrelationship between systems and component equipment. Analyzes and recommends enhancements to business processes.
  • Leadership and Guidance: Coordinates work activities of others within the work group, department, or other corporate entity as necessary to perform routine engineering work. Performs routine engineering activity independently. Provides training and guidance to lower-level employees. Planning and Organizational Ability: Develops input necessary to forecast costs for the routine projects, improvements requisitions, etc.
  • Problem Solving and Initiative: Resolves and initiates solutions to routine and/or moderately complex problems which usually require additional definition/clarification before analysis can begin. Identifies problems that are beyond the normal routine. Seeks out opportunities and embrace new ideas and approaches.
  • Communication Skills: Helps coordinate the work of other engineers in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Leads aspects of team effort. Effectively leverages skills developed from company programs such as Power Up & Lead.

What we’re looking for:

Engineer/Engineering Technologist Associate SG6

  • This is an entry level position for new graduates with a bachelor’s degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*;
  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination in preparation for future licensing as a Professional Engineer (PE) is encouraged and preferred.

Engineer/Engineering Technologist SG7

  • Has typically acquired a bachelor’s degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET* along with two or more years of related engineering experience.
  • Individuals with a master’s degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
  • Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license. 

*A degree in engineering technology is the preferred degree: however, engineering degrees will also be considered.

Engineer/Engineer Technologist Senior SG8

  • Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a bachelor’s degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*;
  • Or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a master’s degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.

Engineer/Engineering Technologist Principal SG9

  • Has typically acquired 8 or more years of related engineering experience along with a bachelor’s degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*;
  • Or 6 years of related engineering experience along with a master’s or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*. 
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is preferred for this position unless approval to waive this requirement is given by the organization's EVP.

*ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

*Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology can satisfy this degree requirement, if they obtain a certified Professional Engineering (PE) license. 

*Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a master’s degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited bachelor’s program.

**VP or above may waive the requirement for a degree from a university with a Non-ABET accredited program
