Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Engineer, Boiler Room - Evening Shift - Mineola.

In this role, the successful candidate maintains, repairs, cleans and lubricates all Steam Plant equipment and spaces as directed or assigned. Operates, maintains and repairs high-pressure steam boilers and all plant and auxiliary equipment relating to such. Observes and monitors all gauges, meters and equipment operation and makes appropriate repairs or adjustments to ensure continued and proper operation of all plant equipment. Measures, monitors and maintains boiler water treatment chemical levels within prescribed program parameters. Informs Foreman Boiler Room, Assistant Foreman Boiler Room, Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering of any emergency situation or serious impairment of Steam Plant equipment or systems. Completes all reports, operating logs and documents as required. Responsible for monitoring the proper operation of all physical plant equipment,Hospital systems and all other Engineering-related issues during 4-12/12-4 shifts. Responds as necessary to all service requests from Hospital departments weekends and holidays.

  • Observes and monitors all gauges, meters and equipment operation and makes appropriate repairs or adjustments to ensure continued and proper operation of all plant equipment
  • Measures, monitors and maintains boiler water treatment chemical levels within prescribed program parameters.
  • Informs Foreman Boiler Room, Assistant Foreman Boiler Room andor Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering of any emergency situation or serious impairment of serious impairment of Hospital equipment or systems Steam Plant equipment or systems.
  • Monitors the proper operation of all physical plant equipment, systems and all other Engineering-related issues during 4-1212-4 shifts, weekends and holidays. Observes and monitors the institutions Building Management System (BMS) and makes appropriate repairs or adjustments to ensure continued and proper operation of all plant equipment.
  • Responds as necessary to all service requests from hospital departments. Provides first-response repair/correction of problem.
  • Completes all reports, operating logs and documents as required


Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School or GED. 3 - 5 years Experience in the operations and maintenance of high-pressure boilers. Ability read well and write legibly and to follow both verbal and written instructions. Must be able to read and follow technical documents, manuals, drawings, schematics, specifications, and blueprints. Must be familiar with the safe operation and maintenance of power and hand tools and have basic knowledge of electricity and electronics. Working knowledge of all building-related systems. Strong communication (both oral and written). Working knowledge of all building related systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
Technical Diploma Appropriate trade or vocational school graduate. NYC High Pressure Steam Operator. 3 - 5 years Experience in the building maintenance or plant operations field in Healthcare.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $91,470.89 - $102,210.74 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
