Job Description

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we're all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?
Our Marketing, Sales & Service organization advances the Ford reputation as a visionary vehicle and mobility services company and helps deliver a trusted customer experience. Use your marketing, sales and service expertise to turn data-driven insights into innovative solutions that enhance sales and customer loyalty. Join us and be the eyes, ears and voice of Ford.
In this position...
Our FPP-PT team is at the forefront of aftermarket innovation, responsible for verifying and optimizing the combustion, mechanical function, and durability attributes of cutting-edge powertrains. We utilize engine dynamometers and in-vehicle testing to push the boundaries of performance and reliability. This isn't just theoretical work; we're hands-on, solving complex problems on a weekly basis, from integrating hardware like Whipple superchargers and upgraded turbos, to refining intricate software logic and ensuring regulatory compliance of aftermarket components for our most iconic vehicles. We thrive in a fast-paced environment, directly impacting product success and shaping the future of Ford Performance Parts.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically profound Engine Performance Development Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in driving our most challenging projects, bringing expertise in engine performance, calibration, and system integration. You will be instrumental in diagnosing and resolving complex issues, guiding development across diverse platforms (e.g., Mustang, Raptor, Bronco, Ranger, Maverick), and mentoring other engineers. If you are a problem-solver who enjoys getting into the weeds of calibration data, tackling hardware/software integration puzzles, and ensuring our products meet the highest standards, this is the role for you.

Qualifications

You'll have...
Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar discipline.
10+ years in engine design, development, and performance calibration.
6 years focused on engine development/mapping.

Even better, you may have...
Master's degree in engineering or similar discipline.
Deep technical expertise in gasoline direct injection (GDI) and/or turbocharged engine combustion systems, evidenced by successful project delivery and complex problem resolution.
Hands-on experience with engine and vehicle dynamometer testing, including advanced data acquisition and analysis (e.g., ATI, MF4 data).
Strong working knowledge of engine control unit (ECU) calibration tools and methodologies, including an understanding of embedded software logic and its impact on engine behavior.
Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex, multi-disciplinary engine issues, spanning hardware, software, and calibration.
Experience with regulatory compliance processes (e.g., CARB) and associated documentation.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of bridging technical gaps between diverse teams (e.g., wiring, software, product planning, suppliers).
Ability to manage multiple active items, prioritize effectively, and adapt to rapidly evolving project needs.
Direct experience with Ford engine architectures (Coyote, EcoBoost) and vehicle platforms (Mustang, Raptor, Bronco, Ranger, Maverick).
Experience with engine instrumentation and sensor integration (e.g., turbo speed sensors, emulated modules).
Working knowledge of JIRA or similar project tracking systems for task management and progress tracking.
Prior experience managing supplier relationships for critical components
A track record of identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability in development cycles.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home?
