Lab Test Engineer

About this role
Kidde Global Solutions (KGS) is seeking a second shift Lab Test Engineer to join our team who will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of smoke and carbon monoxide detection products. In this role, you will review schematics and customer requirements, develop detailed testing procedures, and execute comprehensive validation and regression tests. You will analyze defective components, conduct failure analyses, and document all findings meticulously for review by leadership and team members. You will also use your technical skills to support product validation within Global Lab organization.
This is an onsite role for someone living near Bradenton, FL and will require 5-10% travel in the US based on project priorities and needs.
Key Responsibilities
37Create complex test strategies for product validation test to ensure product compliance with industry regulations for life safety products.
37Review, test, and validate agency & engineering design requirements for each product to ensure compliance with agency standards.
37Document product requirements leading to developing individual test cases in an organized manner for global lab organizations to track and monitor test progression.
37Assist in planning work breakdowns for assigned engineering technicians to accelerate product testing schedules to meet critical business milestones.
37Work with cross-functional engineering teams to assist in complex route cause analysis to create reliable and industry leading life safety products.
37Understands how to read/interpret electrical and mechanical schematics to help understand test requirements.
37Interact with key critical customers to provide technical support, as needed.
Basic Qualifications
37Bachelor's degree
373+ years' experience working as a lab/test engineer with consumer electronics.
373+ years of experience using digital and analog testing equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
Preferred Qualifications
37Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or a related field.
37Excellent self-task management/prioritization and documentation skills in a R&D or lab environment.
37Understands how to read and interpret schematics, installation sheets, and bill of materials.
37Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with little to no supervision.
37Experience working on failure probability models and risk mitigation plans.
37Interpersonal skills to work with several departments, including engineering, key project stakeholders and production.
37Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
37Familiarity with UL standards.
37MATLAB / Minitab data analysis experience.
37Experience in Jira or other similar tools.
37Must be able to work both independently, as well as part of a team.
37Ability to adapt to change.
37This is a second shift role with hours 3:00 PM - 12:00 AM EST.
