Job Description

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. Our collaborative, cross-functional teams are committed to innovation, integrity, continual learning and strong execution.

What You'll Do:
  • Support mission-level test activities. These tests include but not limited to early data exchanges, risk-reduction activities, end-to-end data verification, space to ground compatibility, factory compatibility, multi-segment and multi-system testing.
  • Develop, coordinate, implement and execute the Mission Integration and Test Plans, Mission-level Test Procedures, and Test Reports
  • Work across multiple Integrated Product Teams in a collaborative environment to ensure successful Mission Integration and Test activities such as:
    • Ensuring all simulators are functional.
    • Identifying and coordinating Ground Support Equipment.
    • Identifying and establishing Network interfaces.
    • Ensuring System capabilities are compatible and delivered.
    • Identifying and coordinating Critical System resources.
    • Ensuring System is deployed and configured appropriately.
  • Provide planning and execution of continuous Mission Integration and Test activities post-launch due to anomaly resolution, space vehicle software updates, ground system updates, discrepancy reports, regression testing, and operations updates.
  • Develop, release, and maintain the Program relevant ICDs and support External System ICD definition and coordination.
  • Provide support for operations and launch rehearsal development and execution.
  • Provide support to development of the mission CONOPS and functional baseline.
  • Provide support to define simulator requirements, CONOPS, and use-cases to support the Program and Mission Integration & Test activities.
  • Provide support to develop mission level requirements traceability and verification approaches.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
  • May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
  • May access other facilities in various weather conditions.


Required Skills and Education

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Experience developing mission level test plans and supporting execution.
  • Experience developing mission level ICDs.
  • Proven technical experience and familiarity with mission systems integration.
  • Experience in either mission system, spacecraft systems, ground systems and payload systems.

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Experience supporting system/mission level integration and testing.
  • Experience in MBSE, Linux OS, JIRA, Confluence, Jama, and large program test management.
  • Experience in CI/CD, Agile Development, Test Automation and Cloud Based Systems.
  • Experience with launch events and early orbit operations following into mission operations.
  • Solid interpersonal skills, ability to effectively lead group discussions, ability to set priorities and delegate as required to meet all objectives.
  • Highly desired skills:
    • Test scripting knowledge (Python, Java).
    • Test Procedure development and execution.
    • General spacecraft operations knowledge.
    • General ground system operations knowledge
    • General ground terminal/communications knowledge..
    • General simulator operations knowledge.
    • Hands-on and detailed oriented.
