Job DescriptionThe Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capability Unit (SCU) at BAE Systems Inc, Space and Mission Systems Sector is looking to expand our team with a talented and energetic software engineer to work on satellite ground system software delivering new capability to the industry. This position consists of working on a tightly integrated team in a fast-paced Agile environment to deliver continuous innovation to our customers.
What You'll Do:- Develop satellite command and control, mission planning, and data analysis software systems.
- Perform full software life cycle functions including software requirements, architecture, design, code, test, integration, documentation, and support.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working
on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: - Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Skills and Education- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active Top Secret/SCI Polygraph security clearance is required.
- Certifications such as Security+ CE, SSCP, CCNA-Security, or GSEC.
- Proven experience in building, deployment, release automation, or orchestration, along with expertise in supporting cloud applications and infrastructures across platforms like AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Hands-on experience with the following:
- infrastructure-as-code environments.
- automated configurations.
- large-scale software deployments.
- CI/CD.
- containerization tools such as Docker, OpenShift, or Kubernetes.
- Proven leadership experience at the technical, team, or organizational levels.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to enhance automation processes.

Preferred Skills and Education- Scripting abilities in languages like Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Familiarity with protocols including JSON and XML.
- An understanding of frameworks like OWASP or DevSecOps.
- Cloud certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, Google Cloud Architect, or MCSE - Cloud Platform).
