Job DescriptionBAE Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. Accuracy, integrity, subject matter expertise, and the ability to work well independently and with others are important traits we expect the successful candidate to possess and demonstrate.
This position supports BAE Systems as SSP's system integration contractor. This position ensures compatibility of the weapon system, the ship, and facilities. This is done so by managing interface requirements, which are requirements at the boundaries where subsystems meet. This position is responsible for processing changes against the electrical interface requirements, modeling electrical interface requirements in digital tools, and collaborating with government and contractor stakeholders. The electrical interface requirements include but are not limited to power, telemetry, software, electromagnetic interference, and cable requirements.
Required Skills and Education- Bachelor's degree and 8 years professional work experience OR Master's degree and 6 years professional work experience
- Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following: DOORS, Engineering Requirements Documents, and/or Excel.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, to be able to communicate with management, technical leads, and external stakeholders
- Ability to speak confidently to customer and large groups of stakeholders, both virtually and in-person
- Proactive and problem-solving mindset to resolve higher priority issues
- High attention to detail
- Organizational and time management skills, to be able to process various changes at once
Preferred Skills and Education- Extensive knowledge in any of the electrical engineering domains (power, data, communications)
- Extensive understanding of the "Systems Engineering V" and various systems engineering milestones
- Experience in engineering Navy systems
- Experience evaluating technical change requests, preparing change products, and resolving comments
