Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 / Windows Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise OneDrive migration initiative. This role focuses on transitioning user personal data from legacy on-premises Windows file services to Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage platforms.
As a mission-focused infrastructure engineer, you will independently identify and resolve complex migration, synchronization, storage, and access-related issues across Windows, networking, storage, and Microsoft 365 cloud environments. The role requires hands-on expertise with enterprise file services, Microsoft 365 administration, OneDrive migrations, PowerShell automation, and data lifecycle management practices.
You will evaluate and recommend migration approaches, develop automation solutions, execute large-scale data migrations, validate migration integrity, preserve enterprise folder structures, and support the development of operational standards for cloud-hosted user data and archival strategies.
Required Skills and EducationWe are looking for a Microsoft 365 OneDrive Migration Engineer with the following skills and education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related field; with a minimum 16+ years of relevant work experience.
- Significant experience supporting enterprise Windows file services and user data environments
- Hands-on experience migrating user data from on-premises file servers to Microsoft OneDrive environments
- SharePoint Migration Tool (SPMT)
- PowerShell scripting and automation
- Microsoft 365 migration and administration tools
- Experience preserving and validating folder structures, file permissions, and data integrity during cloud migration initiatives
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft 365 and OneDrive environments in hybrid enterprise infrastructures
- Microsoft 365 data storage concepts
- File synchronization technologies
- User profile and personal data management
- Experience developing and documenting archival, retention, and lifecycle management standards for cloud-hosted user data
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 compliance, retention, governance, and data protection best practices
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex migration and synchronization issues
- Hands-on experience writing and maintaining PowerShell automation for migration workflows, reporting, validation, and operational support
- Experience supporting Windows Server environments and enterprise file services, including:
- Experience working with cloud platforms and services in hybrid environments, including:
- Experience supporting cloud-hosted user data workloads and enterprise storage modernization initiatives
- Ability to assess existing data structures and recommend optimized migration and archival approaches
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Service Desk, IT Operations, Security, and Cloud Engineering
- Strong documentation skills, including operational procedures, migration runbooks, standards, and technical diagrams
- Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to support end users and leadership during migration activities
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in high-tempo operational environments
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across technical teams
