We9re seeking a skilled New Product Introduction Engineer to join our Secure Communications Program Area in Hudson, NH. This role will lead the transition to production of electro-optic/infrared (EO/IR) products and others, collaborating with cross-functional teams in a hybrid work format.
As a New Product Introduction Engineer with experience in complex electro-optic systems, you9ll coordinate and lead transition to production and continuous improvement efforts to drive producibility and manufacturing efficiency. You9ll work with the Operations Program Manager to develop production estimates and ensure best practices are implemented to meet program commitments.
This role offers exposure across multiple platforms and customers, with opportunities for growth and development.
Position responsibilities:
- Partnering and collaborating with multiple other organizations throughout the product life cycle, including: Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain
- Experience leading and supporting early product and process development life cycles for complex EO/IR systems
- Leading program teams and provide active support and strategic solutions for: Design to Unit Production Cost (DTUPC), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT)
- AS9145 facilitation and implementation
- Coordinate/ populate/ facilitate Transition to Production (TTP) process in a timely manner
- Understanding of cost drivers and how to mitigate them inclusive of test yield, manufacturing yield, scrap, etc.
- Interpreting and applying manufacturing learning curve and improvement strategies across multiple programs
- Review of engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Support proposals, cost evaluation activities, and prepare Basis of Estimates (BOE9s)
- Actively participate in Program PDR, CDR, and IDR as assessor
- Assist in the design, fabrication, and validation of fixtures, tooling, and test equipment for production
- Identify, propose, execute Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives
- Provide mentorship and technical expertise/ guidance to others
Required Skills and Education- BS in Physics, Optical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent 6+ years of relevant working experience.
- Experience in working with electro-optic systems
- Ability to lead in a cross-functional team environment, with a customer-focused approach, and an aptitude for continuous improvement in serving internal and external customers
- Demonstrated success in implementing lean manufacturing, yield management and resolution of a complex product base, and supply chain initiatives inclusive of AS9145 and Lean Six Sigma practices
- Experience in working in New Product Introduction environments and transitioning designs to production
- Strong understanding of manufacturing methods and cost improvement activities
- Demonstrated experience supporting product development into stable production environments
- Highly effective team player working in a fast-paced environment and able to self-manage and prioritize schedule and responsibilities
- Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and communicating with team members, Programs, Process Engineers, Engineering Assistants, and Operators
- Receptive to change, learning new things, and evolving in dynamic environment
- Must be eligible to obtain DOD Security Clearance
Preferred Skills and Education- Understanding of free space optical paths, gimbals & motors, complex electro optical systems
- Experience in working in New Product Introduction environments and transitioning designs to production
- Experience with AS9145, DTUPC, Design for Test, Design for Manufacturing
- Knowledge of reviewing change orders and their impact on the production floor
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite of Products and Dataview type programs
- Experience in managing program teams in either a development or production setting
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
