Job Description

The Energy & Sustainability Engineer will work in a team environment that is committed to continuous improvement with process & business consciousness. The successful candidate will be a member of the Facilities Engineering team and lead the Elkton site's energy & sustainability advancement.

Key duties include:
  • Develop and promote the site's energy & sustainability objectives in accordance with corporate goals.
  • Deliver the site's energy, emissions, and waste reduction strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders on-site and above site.
  • Represent the site with above site energy & sustainability forums and groups.
  • Manage the site's energy and utilities budgets from forecast to reconciliation. Partner with procurement for associated contracts.
  • Act as liaison between the site and utility & energy providers.
  • Ensure jurisdictional, site and corporate energy requirements/standards are included in project designs.
  • Coordinate the site's efforts to obtain LEED certification for new buildings and renovations.
  • Engages with government and other external agencies to ensure the site is kept abreast of developments in energy policy and technologies that could affect the site.


Activities within Role:
  • Analyze performance, identify, and implement measures to improve energy optimization throughout the site while maintaining business and process understanding.
  • Deliver accurate budgeting for energy usage across the site in conjunction with consultants, finance, and production planning departments.
  • Develop business case for energy & sustainability-driven capital projects and expenses.
  • Work closely with the site capital project teams to ensure energy & sustainability is considered as part of the project design.
  • Coach and support site project teams to understand standards and address or provide clarification on any inquiries that may arise.
  • Actively interface with other sites, vendors & suppliers in pursuit of achieving energy & sustainability targets.
  • Review existing processes with the goal of reducing site's energy consumption.
  • Evaluate optimization ideas utilizing process engineering tools.
  • Generate and present energy & sustainability metrics for the site during town halls and other meetings.
  • Explore new technologies for the site and suitability of these technologies for the site.
  • Work with management and staff to foster an ethos and culture of energy & sustainability awareness, where both are an integral part of the overall business.
  • Assist other members of the Facilities Engineering team and site operational teams as required.


Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental Science or similar related discipline.


Required:
  • Minimum of five years of experience.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to communicate effectively across multiple teams.
  • Project management experience leading projects or programs.
  • Strong leadership skills, a confident and effective decision maker, with a proven ability to influence others.
  • Ability to work autonomously.


Preferred:
  • Certified in at least one of the following: Energy Manager (CEM), Renewable Energy (REP), Energy Management (EMP), or Energy Star (ESC).
  • Good knowledge of GMP / FDA regulatory requirements and current Environmental, Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment preferably in the pharmaceutical, food, or any other regulated industry.

The salary range for this role is
$106,200.00 - $167,200.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, government requirements, and business or organizational needs.

The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable.
