Full Job Description
Purpose

Responsible for gas purchasing for liberty Utilities. Works closely with Producers and Pipelines to ensure an adequate and seamless delivery of natural gas supplies, and to ensure that all supply costs are defended, supported and recovered. Solicits RFP's (requests for proposal), tracks pricing, analyzes bid results, performs hedging activiites and makes decisions for day to day supply plans for Liberty's Utilities. Responsible for all regulatory compliance and assists in the development of testimony and responding to data requests.

Accountabilities

  • Maintains daily balance between natural gas deliveries and consumption for legal entities
  • Works closely with Gas control forecasting to ensure adequate supply of gas each day
  • Issues RFPs for LDC's and monitors the process from solicitation to signed contract.
  • Ensures transaction confirmation between parties are in compliance with company goals. Works closely with Legal and Treasury group as well as Energy Procurement department to ensure all contractual requirements are met.
  • Notifies winning bidders as well as subsequent bidders of the final results.
  • Maintains close working relationships with local engineering and operations staff, Marketers, Pipeline representatives, Traders and Planners to ensure effective communication between all parties regarding distribution system integrity
  • Attends meetings and performs critical analysis on pricing and strategy
  • Works closely with Energy Optimization Consultant to determine timing and volumes of hedge transactions.
  • Tracks hedge positions using transactional database to prepare mark to mark reporting
  • Meets annually with commissions to present hedge results
  • Interacts with several internal groups including engineering teams as they prepare to value products which may be used to enhance the portfolios such as renewable natural gas.
  • Interacts with several external groups to ensure Liberty is recognized as a leader in the Natural Gas industry.


Education and Experience

  • BS/BA in a quantitative discipline
  • 5+ years' work experience in the natural gas or electric industries preferred
  • Understanding of natural gas infrastructure.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access) required.


Compensation Data

Full base salary range $130,000.00- $140,000.00 per year*Liberty considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education, training and skills, and geographic location.
