About the Role
The role is explicitly allocated at 70% End User Engineering and 30% DSAR & Privacy coordination.

This End User Engineer role directly impacts the day-to-day experience of every Zumiez employee-from store associates to corporate teams. By combining engineering, automation, and user support, the End User Engineer ensures technology is not a blocker but an enabler of the brand's culture, agility, and customer experience. The End User Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting the technology experience for Zumiez end users across stores, distribution centers, and the home office. This role bridges Service Desk operations and platform engineering by owning endpoint systems, automation, and user-facing infrastructure to deliver a scalable, reliable, and modern workplace experience. This position plays a critical role in enabling productivity across retail stores, corporate employees, and distribution operations through continuous improvement of endpoint management, identity services, and support tooling.

The DSAR Coordinator is responsible for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) in compliance with applicable U.S. state privacy laws and Canadian privacy legislation. The DSAR portion of the role serves as both an operational responsibility and a strategic engineering objective: while continuing to fulfill DSAR obligations, the role is expected to learn the DSAR lifecycle end-to-end and then design and build an automated, scalable process. While serves as the central point of contact for all consumer privacy requests, ensuring timely responses within applicable regulatory deadlines across U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions, while coordinating with internal teams and an external privacy advisory partner to fulfill obligations accurately and completely

Key Responsibilities Engineering (70%)

Endpoint Engineering & Management
  • Design, implement, and maintain endpoint management platforms (e.g., Intune, JAMF, device lifecycle tooling)
  • Standardize device configurations, security baselines, and deployment processes
  • Support OS lifecycle management, patching, and compliance enforcement

User Experience & Service Enablement
  • Partner with Service Desk to resolve complex Tier 2/3 end user issues
  • Improve end user experience through proactive monitoring and issue prevention
  • Define and maintain end-user technology standards (hardware, software, access)

Automation & Tooling
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive support tasks and workflows
  • Build and maintain automation solutions (e.g., Power Automate, scripting, integrations)
  • Improve operational efficiency across onboarding, offboarding, and service requests

Identity & Access Support
  • Support identity and access management processes across platforms (e.g., Entra ID)
  • Assist with access provisioning, troubleshooting, and governance alignment

Platform Ownership & Integration
  • Own and support key end-user platforms and integrations (e.g., M365, endpoint tools, email routing)
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams on cross-platform initiatives

Project Delivery
  • Lead or contribute to IT initiatives such as endpoint modernization, store onboarding, and platform enhancements
  • Deliver solutions with a focus on scalability, automation, and long-term maintainability

Key Responsibilities DSAR (30%)

DSAR Intake & Management

  • Manage incoming DSARs through the OneTrust platform, including monitoring the webform queue, overseeing the automated identity verification workflow, and ensuring requests are correctly categorized and routed upon intake.
  • Authenticate requestors in accordance with applicable identity verification requirements.
  • Maintain an accurate, up-to-date request tracker to monitor status, deadlines, and outcomes.
  • Serve as the internal point of contact for OneTrust configuration questions related to the DSAR webform and verification processes.

SLA Compliance & Coordination

  • Own the SLA calendar for all active requests, ensuring responses are delivered within the applicable statutory deadline - 45 days for U.S. requests, 30 days for Canadian requests.
  • Proactively escalate at-risk requests to prevent SLA breaches.
  • Coordinate data collection and fulfillment tasks delegated to cross-functional teams (IT, Engineering, Marketing, HR, Digital, Customer Support, etc.), including assigning tasks, setting internal deadlines, following up on outstanding items, and escalating to managers when teams are unresponsive.
  • Follow up persistently with internal stakeholders to keep requests on track without direct authority over those teams.

Data Extraction & Response Fulfillment

  • Conduct portions of data extraction and collation directly, depending on system access and request type.
  • Review and package personal information for delivery to requestors in a clear, accessible format.
  • Apply appropriate redactions and exemptions before disclosure, in line with legal guidance.

Process & Documentation

  • Maintain standard operating procedures for DSAR handling across all request types: Access, Deletion, Update/Correction, Opt-Out of Sale, Limit Use and Disclosure of Sensitive Personal Information, and Appeal.
  • Maintain and optimize OneTrust workflow configurations to support efficient request routing and SLA tracking.
  • Participate in quarterly review meetings with Zumiez's external privacy advisory partner (Protiviti) to implement any updates to webform configurations or OneTrust workflows driven by regulatory changes.
  • Document decisions, extensions, and denials with clear rationale for audit purposes.
  • Learning about the full DSAR lifecycle and requirements
  • Design and build an automated DSAR process
  • Transition from manual fulfillment to scalable automation while continuing to fulfill requests

Reporting & Metric

  • Produce regular reports on DSAR volumes, SLA performance, and trends for the Privacy Manager.
  • Flag patterns that may indicate broader data governance issues.

  • Hands-on experience with OneTrust, SQL, CIPP/US, or exposure to GDPR / VCDPA is a plus
