Job Description Summary:
Under little or no supervision, the End User Computing Engineer III provides engineering-level support, technical expertise, planning and recommendations for client end-point supporting technologies, applications and system management tools in response to BlueKC’s needs. The End User Computing Engineer acts as a Level 3 resource to Desktop Support team and works with internal IT teams to successfully deploy and maintain applications, operating systems and print services across BlueKC. The End User Computing Engineer implements infrastructure solutions in support of the desktop environment that provides value-added services and enables BlueKC to meet industry-best-practices for management and security. The End User Computing Engineer is directly responsible for desktop solutions and products including hardware standards for desktops, laptops, peripherals, operating systems, core builds and standard shrink-wrapped software such as Microsoft Office.

The candidate for this position must reside in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Job Description
  • Implements and maintains infrastructure systems through established IT policies and procedures and ITIL framework for on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
  • Develops and implements strategic road maps for end user infrastructure systems.
  • Participates in technology evaluation and reengineering teams to support strategy definition and continuous process improvement activities.
  • Automates and improves processes to increase efficiencies and service delivery.
  • Ability to communicate highly technical functions to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
  • Participates in on-call rotation schedule.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma

  • 5+ years’ experience supporting systems infrastructure (end user compute, server, and/or storage).

  • Advanced understanding of operating systems, advanced troubleshooting techniques, recovery options, monitoring, and system protections for on-premises and cloud infrastructure.

  • Good interpersonal skills, including leadership, diplomacy, and negotiation with customers and senior executives.

  • Experience working with and managing ticket queue management 

  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft platforms & Windows client technologies

  • Basic understanding of networking, applications, and relational databases.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other field.
  • 7+ years’ experience supporting systems infrastructure (end-user computing, server, and storage).
  • Experience scripting/programming in a language such as Python, PowerShell, Ruby, Perl, Unix shell, etc.
  • Mobile Device Management
  • SCCM Experience (OS deployments, PXE, Software Distribution, Patch Management)
  • Group Policy, Configuration Baselines, On-prem or Azure AD knowledge
  • Experience protecting and maintaining systems under HIPAA and PCI regulations.
