Full Job Description

**The Ideal Candidate is in the Boston, MA area and is willing to commute to the office on a hybrid schedule**

Under general direction, the Empower Accounting Manager prepares accounting entries and provides accounting analysis in accordance with Statutory Accounting Principles, US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).  This role prepares entries relating to transfer pricing and quarterly non-life consolidation and performs all quarter end close functions related to the non-life entities and the consolidated Empower ledger within Empower Accounting.

What You Will Do:

  • Responsible for preparing quarterly journal entries to support the ledger close, including transfer pricing and GAAP adjustments.
  • Review quarterly financial statement presentation journal entries prepared by offshore associates.
  • Prepare and review quarter end analytics, as well as the consolidated equity rolls for the company on an IFRS and GAAP basis.
  • Perform a consolidation review, dividend analysis, and intercompany analysis on a quarterly basis.
  • Responsible for transfer pricing program work including adapting to business developments, new study work, and acting as a liaison with FP&A, tax and actuary to ensure company needs are met.
  • Lead intercompany reporting within Empower Accounting, including but not limited to preparing monthly and quarterly reporting, following up on stale items, and collaborating with treasury and other accounting team members.
  • Maintain ledger integrity through annual ledger maintenance review, which includes consolidating existing entries, and working closely with other teams to ensure accuracy of activity at a legal entity level.  Responsible for preparation and review of general ledger account reconciliations and quarterly control certifications.
  • Liaison with other teams within Finance to provide financial statement support, intercompany management, and dividend recommendations. This includes work completing the year-end audit and working closely with the auditors to assist in closing down different areas.
  • Subject matter expert on non-life subsidiaries, equity accounting, intercompany relationships, consolidation and transfer pricing.
  • Leads training initiatives surrounding transfer pricing, intercompany, and non-life accounting.
  • Ad-hoc and annual reporting requests, as they arise.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Math, Business Administration, or related field
  • Four (4) to six (6) years’ relevant accounting or business analysis experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze data, and possesses excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to independently manage work priorities and meet established deadlines

What Will Set You Apart

  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • CPA license is preferred

Base Salary Range

$121,500.00 - $171,675.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
