We are currently seeking an
Employment Lawyer with 3+ years of post-call experience to join our Employment Law team.
The OpportunityThis is an exciting opportunity for a motivated employment lawyer looking to build a sophisticated and rewarding practice within a growing Ontario boutique firm.
The ideal candidate is a passionate, driven, and client-focused lawyer who is
licensed by the Law Society of Ontario and in good standing, with at least
three years of post-call Employment Law experience, excluding articling.
You will have the opportunity to work on a broad range of Ontario employment matters, develop meaningful client relationships, take ownership of files, and play an active role in the continued growth of our Employment Law practice.

Key Responsibilities- Advising employers and employees on a broad range of employment law matters;
- Drafting and reviewing employment agreements, executive compensation arrangements, workplace policies, and other employment-related documents;
- Advising on hiring, termination, severance, accommodation, workplace policies, leaves, and other workplace issues;
- Managing employment litigation, including wrongful dismissal and constructive dismissal claims;
- Conducting legal research and providing practical, commercially focused advice to clients;
- Drafting pleadings, correspondence, motions, mediation materials, settlement documentation, and other legal documents;
- Negotiating settlements and representing clients in mediations and other dispute-resolution processes;
- Managing files independently while working collaboratively with other members of the Employment Law team and lawyers across the firm;
- Building and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships; and
- Contributing to the growth and development of Hummingbird Lawyers' Employment Law practice.
The Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate will:
- Be licensed by the Law Society of Ontario and in good standing;
- Have at least 3 years of post-call experience practising Ontario Employment Law, excluding articling;
- Have strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation, common law principles, and employment-related litigation;
- Be comfortable managing files independently from intake through resolution;
- Possess excellent written and oral advocacy and communication skills;
- Be practical, commercially minded, and solutions-oriented;
- Be highly organized and attentive to detail;
- Demonstrate strong judgment and a commitment to providing exceptional client service;
- Be interested in developing both their legal practice and business-development skills; and
- Value collegiality, mentorship, innovation, and an entrepreneurial approach to the practice of law.

Location & HoursThis is a
full-time position based out of our Toronto-Yorkville office, with the flexibility to work remotely on select days.
Our standard office hours are
Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Lawyers are expected to manage their practices effectively and meet all client, court, professional, and other applicable deadlines and obligations.

Compensation
$95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
