Position Overview:
The Employee Health & Safety Analyst serves as a strategic and operational bridge between data, frontline operations, and executive leadership, focused on reducing risk associated with Workers' Compensation Injury/Illness claims in a healthcare environment. The role is responsible for developing, analyzing, and implementing proactive safety strategies that reduce both the frequency and cost of workplace injuries while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and system priorities.

The ideal Employee Health & Safety Analyst will have a strong knowledge of injury prevention and injury management practices, including the complete injury reporting lifecycle, from initial incident reporting and cause analysis, through occupational injury case management. Demonstrated understanding of return-to-work programs and practical strategies to reduce workplace injury risk and improve employee safety outcomes. In addition, ideal candidate will be a data-driven strategist, influential collaborator, and pragmatic problem solver who translates complex risk into actionable strategies and drives sustained injury reduction across the Sutter system with a focus on Patients First, People Always.

Job Description:

The candidate selected for this role will come on site a minimum of two days a week. This is NOT a remote role.

Advanced Risk Identification & Loss Control Expertise: The ideal candidate demonstrates deep understanding of healthcare-specific injury drivers, including patient handling, musculoskeletal disorders, slips/trips/falls, and workplace violence. They proactively identify risk exposures and design targeted interventions grounded in operational realities.

Enterprise-Level Data Strategy & Analytics: The candidate integrates multiple data streams including workers' compensation, clinical documentation, patient safety, and external benchmarks. They translate findings into actionable insights and strategic recommendations using both quantitative and qualitative approaches.

Strategic Collaboration & Influential Leadership: Success requires strong collaboration across frontline staff, leaders, and executives. The candidate leads through influence, builds trusted relationships, and navigates complex organizational dynamics.

Strategic Planning & Operational Execution: The ideal candidate translates system-level priorities into practical, actionable plans aligned with operational realities, while maintaining focus on measurable injury reduction outcomes.

EDUCATION:
  • Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
  • Bachelor's in Business Administration, Insurance Service or Human Resources


TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
  • 5 years recent relevant experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Demonstrated, current knowledge of state workers' compensation laws, wellness programs and consulting experience.
  • Ability to analyze all factors impacting total health and productivity of employees within assigned affiliate.
  • Must have the ability to effectively utilize consultative skills and maintain interpersonal relationship within the department and at all levels of the affiliates.
  • The ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner is essential.
  • The ability to organize, prioritize and direct projects to meet goals and objectives is required.
  • Must have good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently to achieve goals.
  • The ability to analyze data and recommend strategies to positively impact programs within the affiliates.
  • The incumbent must be able to develop and conduct training programs for presentation to all levels of employees.
  • Computer literate in a PC environment with ability to develop word documents, presentations, spreadsheets and graphs required.

Pay Range is $106,745.60 to $160,118.40 / annual salary

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health's comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
